for a long time i had very little patience for people who think it's appropriate to put their religion into government.

I'm big on separation of church and state...

Quote
Indeed, it has been said that Democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
~Winston Churchill

I believe the perfect form of government is one of God, since no government currently exist... There needs to be a seperation.

communism can never, and will never, work no matter how you arrange the details - it runs to harshly counter to human nature

Absolute power corrupts absolutely  :D

Although, it's a good idea... until you get the human nature factor involved hence the quote

I couldn't care less if it's separated or not. As always, you'll end up with a crappy government that will manage things badly. Nothing will change in the long run..

I'm either for anarchy or a dictatorship (with me as supreme overlord) :D

Anarchy is unstable. It always breaks down almost instantly into another form of government.

"Democracy is only few steps from anarchy, but at least it's not so loud."

Or something like that. I don't remember how it exactly went...

And once I'm supreme benevolent ruler and divine emperor for life, you all will get delicious, moist cake (tis not a lie!)...and a new uber gaming rig... so we can all play SCP in multi with maximum eye candy on. ;)

If you wish to have a mature discussion about that then I'm game, if you want to troll then find another bridge.

Hold on! With such a high content of corruption, you reach a homogeneous concentration of corruption....you'll be pure! Pure corruption!...

Pure corruption... isn't. By the point in time in which something would be pure corruption, say a government, they'll be governing 0 and embezelling 100. If the government doesn't govern at all, then it ceases to be a government. If it's not a government, then there is nothing to be corrupt from (Aside from conventional moral values, I suppose). The body is simply a group of bad people with malicious intent.

So therefore (a bit of both inductively and deductivly somehow), nothing is pure corruption. Not even Goober.

:p

Title: Re: Thanks guys
Post by: Goober5000 on January 28, 2008, 10:50:57 pm
I doubt that's what he meant.  HLP is an oligarchy at most.  We value your input, but we are under no obligation to follow it. :p

Democracy != freedom.  If everybody's vote is equal, and the stupid people outnumber the smart people, then you get stupid government.  Or even more insidiously, government that knows how to manipulate the stupid people to grab ever-increasing amounts of power.
