Title: Where Can I Find Freespace 2 Sound Files
Post by: aidenpryde3025 on January 23, 2008, 04:59:39 pm
Hi, I am the lead game designer of a Virtools game and am looking for sound files.  Many of the sound files in Freespace 2 fits my needs for this game and am wondering where I might find them if they have been extracted by someone else, or of a method for extraction.

Any help would be appreciated.

VPView will do it. Check my FAQ's tool page for a link.

I hope you realize that using said files in a game of your own making may be illegal, especially if you try to sell said games. I'm not familiar with what a Virtools game is, but thought a heads-up was in order.

Well I've been in college five years using other people sounds for my portfolio, and since FS2 is abandonware it won't matter anyways.

Thanks for the help, I'll look into to that.

FS2 is not abandonware. There's no such thing as abandonware and Turey is correct that if you use FS2 sounds in something commercial and get caught you are opening yourself up for a lawsuit.

If it's for small personal or semi-personal uses (like a college project) I doubt anyone would care though.
