Correction;
Nobody important cares.
Seriously, I may just start making posts about what kind of underwear I'm wearing every day. And then there may be surprise on the weekend when Commando is the name of the game.

Dude, that is awesome. Does it play Crysis?
-
Unfortunately, no. But it can only play this oil-drilling game, and I'd say the graphics are superb! Really realistic too. The only downside is that it is a bit more expensive than other computers...

Hmm... Maybe I shouldn't've tried those cheat codes.

You just needed to turn the detail settings down a notch....but nooo, you had to have your 8xQ FSAA...
Good thing Newegg has fast shipping.

Man that **** reminds me of Fallout 2.
Yet another game it can run.

Meh... I'm gonna have to downsize. It's too expensive, these rigs. I'm thinking about getting something much smaller.
Maybe this?
It'll at least handle FSO fine on 1024x768.

"This is the world's smallest big rig...and it's mining oil...just for you."

Here's a smaller one, although quite retro:

Do they still have oil rigs as lego sets? It seems like something that'd be a bit odd today, given the charged nature of 'oil' in world events and public perception...but maybe I just read too much internet.
-
I very much doubt that 6-10 year olds care about that. They just want to spin the rotors and make helicopter noises.
And when it comes down to it. So do I. :D

Spinning rotors and making helicopter noises are my bread and butter.

As long as it has missile launcher and I can make "woosh" and "boom" sounds too.. ;7
-
Am I seeing this right that the Lego dudes didn't have arms and faces back then ?
I mean I remember the solid translucent blocks that were used as windows before the clear window parts were introduced, but Lego men without faces are just haunting.

Oil rigs that shoot missiles? You've been watching too much James Bond. :p
-
Hey when I build a Oil rig out of Lego it HAS missiles...and lazers...and a robotic head..and it usuallx has arms and legs...and it usually turns out to actually be a huge robot or battleship.... :P

There hasn't been any oil rig set since then, although one or two sets had oil rig models as alternates. However, there has been a gasoline related set of some sort every year or two.
You definitely need to stop reading so much internet. :D

Yes, the standard minifig came out in 1977. Before that they had no guys at first, followed by these faceless ones for a few years.

I have an old submarine model (http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8250-1) with an alternative that was either an underwater base or an oil rig.

you myfriend have never heard of cable managment
my mobo beats yours, Asus striker 2 formul 780i chip with 3-SLI support BABY :)
-
Bleh, cables are a PitA and thats all i have to say. as for the mobo, why the hell would anyone even need TRIPLE SLI Support with an 8800 GTS :shaking:
-
Pfft...who cares how it looks like, it's what's inside that's important.
I've got you beat
8800 GTX (768Mb), 4 gigs of RAM, 550w active power supply, 350 GB primary, 250 GB secondary HDD, 3+ Ghz Core Duo processor, Armor server tower (9 slots for drives)
-
right now i got formula 2 780i
core 2 quad Q6600
2gb noname ram
8800GTS 512 DDR3
what im gonna ed up with is
same mobo same cpu 8 GB OCZ reaper 8800GTS in SLI and 2 TB worth of raid 5 storage.
-
8800GTS in SLI
If you like vsync and plan to run more than just a handful of the latest blockbuster games on it, get ready for headaches. :p

I'll raise you a HD3850 up 15+% (@770/1014), 500W PSU, 320GB primary, 80GB secondary HDD, 3GHz Core CPU under a Scythe Infinity, cable management, and a 36CM (13") side fan. :pimp:
Silent and $800--not much more than just your graphics card retailed for, for a year.
Oh and Hellstryker--zip ties are your friend.

ati went down the drain imo, with theyr latest cards, nothing they produce can beat a 8800 which is allready an old chip.
-
Wrong. The 3870 X2 is faster than every single Nvidia card.

QFT. We (ATi=Canadian company) finally beat technology that's a year old. Barely.

Too bad it doesn't work properly with vsync and triple buffering, is slower than a single 3870 in some games (since you can't really disable CF on it) and can't output a 400mhz video signal. :doubt:
As far as I am concerned, this and the upcoming 9800GX2 are useless due to all the weird bugs with CF and SLI. If I'm paying $450 or more for one of these things, I expect it to do all the things that a cheaper, single GPU card can.

I agree. If they had brought out something that could compete with an 8800 within a few months of its release, we would have had a new generation of cards six months ago. As it stands, Nvidia's 9800GTX, GT200 or whatever they're calling it is slated for Q2 this year, so the standard one year gap between generations would have increased to two years. However, the games haven't stopped getting more demanding, so the high end video cards all suck these days. :p
-
ehm X2 is a dualcore GPU so it can only compete with a 8800 GX2 or an SLI in which its gonna loose....
plus, if you look at the preformance difference between an 8800 ultra SINGLE core and the x2, its marginal, and some games the single core BEATS the x2, so im sorry mr ati fanboy but you wated your money on the card, and NO im not an nvidia or ati fanboy, my new rig has 8800GTS but old one which i still use has x1950pro AGP which has served me very wellsofar (best AGP card)

Actually the GTS beats the GTX believe it or not, check the graphs on toms hardware. As for the 4 gigs of RAM and the processor, yes im afraid you have pwned me

An HD3870X2 is actually a dual-chip model--it has two R670XT chips on the same PCB, connected by an internal PCI Express bridge. Anyways--it's a much more elegant solution than the GeForce 7900GX2, 7950GX2, and the future 9800GX2. The HD3870X2 is fast--to say the least. Anyways--which 8800GTS? G80 (96SP), G80 "SSC" (112SP), or G92 (128SP)?
-
G92 Obviously, otherwise i wouldn't have said its faster :p
-
im thinking i also have g92 since im running GDDR3
-
All decent nVidia cards run GDDR3. Easy way to tell is memory--320MB and 640MB is G80, 512MB and 1024MB/1GB is G92.
-
and 768? :wtf:
-
and 768? :wtf:
G80.

whee g92 it is then :)

No, I don't believe it actually..Crysis would tend to disagree too
