Correction;

Nobody important cares.

Seriously, I may just start making posts about what kind of underwear I'm wearing every day. And then there may be surprise on the weekend when Commando is the name of the game.

Unfortunately, no. But it can only play this oil-drilling game, and I'd say the graphics are superb! Really realistic too. The only downside is that it is a bit more expensive than other computers...

You just needed to turn the detail settings down a notch....but nooo, you had to have your 8xQ FSAA...

Good thing Newegg has fast shipping.

Meh... I'm gonna have to downsize. It's too expensive, these rigs. I'm thinking about getting something much smaller.

Maybe this?

Do they still have oil rigs as lego sets? It seems like something that'd be a bit odd today, given the charged nature of 'oil' in world events and public perception...but maybe I just read too much internet.

I very much doubt that 6-10 year olds care about that. They just want to spin the rotors and make helicopter noises.

And when it comes down to it. So do I. :D

I mean I remember the solid translucent blocks that were used as windows before the clear window parts were introduced, but Lego men without faces are just haunting.

There hasn't been any oil rig set since then, although one or two sets had oil rig models as alternates. However, there has been a gasoline related set of some sort every year or two.

You definitely need to stop reading so much internet. :D

Yes, the standard minifig came out in 1977. Before that they had no guys at first, followed by these faceless ones for a few years.

I have an old submarine model (http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8250-1) with an alternative that was either an underwater base or an oil rig.

Too bad it doesn't work properly with vsync and triple buffering, is slower than a single 3870 in some games (since you can't really disable CF on it) and can't output a 400mhz video signal. :doubt:

As far as I am concerned, this and the upcoming 9800GX2 are useless due to all the weird bugs with CF and SLI. If I'm paying $450 or more for one of these things, I expect it to do all the things that a cheaper, single GPU card can.

Quote

I agree. If they had brought out something that could compete with an 8800 within a few months of its release, we would have had a new generation of cards six months ago. As it stands, Nvidia's 9800GTX, GT200 or whatever they're calling it is slated for Q2 this year, so the standard one year gap between generations would have increased to two years. However, the games haven't stopped getting more demanding, so the high end video cards all suck these days. :p
Title: Re: My new rig
Post by: Ashrak on February 13, 2008, 12:59:55 pm
ehm X2 is a dualcore GPU so it can only compete with a 8800 GX2 or an SLI in which its gonna loose....

plus, if you look at the preformance difference between an 8800 ultra SINGLE core and the x2, its marginal, and some games the single core BEATS the x2, so im sorry mr ati fanboy but you wated your money on the card, and NO im not an nvidia or ati fanboy, my new rig has 8800GTS but old one which i still use has x1950pro AGP which has served me very wellsofar (best AGP card)

An HD3870X2 is actually a dual-chip model--it has two R670XT chips on the same PCB, connected by an internal PCI Express bridge. Anyways--it's a much more elegant solution than the GeForce 7900GX2, 7950GX2, and the future 9800GX2. The HD3870X2 is fast--to say the least. Anyways--which 8800GTS? G80 (96SP), G80 "SSC" (112SP), or G92 (128SP)?
