Is there a way to make the Knossos stop spinning or stop any other animation for that matter and then later reactivate it?

There is a lock-rotating-subsystem SEXP (and its counterpart, free-rotating-subsytem), that I think will do the trick. Although remember that the inner and outer rings of a Knossos are considered separate subsystems.
