Title: EA or EarthForce?
Post by: FUBAR-BDHR on January 31, 2008, 03:45:48 pm
This has been bugging me while doing some beta testing.  What the heck is the difference between Earth Alliance and Earth Force?  I mean the ships are EA ships but they are also EarthForce ships.  Is it just one of those things that's interchangeable or are there times when one is more appropriate then the other?

Earth Alliance is the "State" (like USA nowadays for example) and Earth Force is EA's military (like USAF, USMC, and so on). At least that's what i think.

The other possibility is that it's slang. Like Earthgov.

If always thought of Earth Alliance being the name of the state, whilst Earth Force was the Millitary.

Though in ships names...They are identified to the Govenment Title not the Name of the Military...i think

I think terran_emperor is right the EAS= Earth Alliance Ship in the same way that USS = United State's Ship

The president's ship being called Earthforce One would seem to support this theory as well.

my design philosophy was:

EF when referring to the military
EA when referring to the state
EA ship when referring to the type or origin of ships
EF vessel when referring to a specific ship
