There are many, many threads with exactly the same title. Refer to them.

Either it's under construction or it's dead. So don't get your hopes up.

The demo is already out.

BtRL is like any other big project here. It's ready when it's ready. And concerning 'new' threads, the opinions on campaigns don't really change over time. If you check out a 2007 thread about the best campaigns, it is quite valid. Apart from maybe the absence of Blue Planet, which has been regarded as a fantastic campaign.

Getting started with FreeSpace 2 (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Getting_started_with_FreeSpace_2)

FreeSpace 2 manual (http://www.the-underdogs.info/games/f/freespace2/files/freespace2-m.zip)

Karajorma's FreeSpace FAQ (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/intro.html)

The Moonwalk Superstar (http://xrl.us/bdj2k)

Define 'best'. It's an opinion question. We can't actually recommend the 'best' campaigns since we don't know what kind of campaigns you might like. Play 'n see.

Edit: Now that I thought of it, here's the best campaign ever (http://www.nukelol.com/downloads/freespacefiles/campaigns/GW2Part2.zip).
Or not. It's actually a piece of crap, if you wan't an actual story and sensible mission design.

On the topic of the Stargate mod (which is, BTW, unreleased):

Linky to their forum. (http://game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=a3eb0fdcfb8294a716f26c240f00679f&f=34)

And I believe the one campaign that most people agree was extremely well-done is Derelict (rerelease).

Although Sync and Transcend are up there as well, and the Procyon Insurgency... and Homesick... and the JAD trilogy... *babbles on and on*

*facepalm*

How could I possibly forget Blue Planet? Yeah, that one's a good one too one of the best as well.

EDIT: Is that better, blowfish?

Yeah, that one's a good one too.

A good one.  You are a master of understatement.  Blue Planet is easily one of the best campaigns out there, possibly making first place for me.

I just hope Episode Two is as good!

I mean,

Spoiler:
how is Bei going to fight without losing the favor of the Vishnans

?

Spoiler:
Because all of the GTVA Command bastards will spontaneously combust and will be replaced by a chimpanzee that makes better decisions then all of them put together

Sorry, I'm feeling random.

@aardwolf:

Spoiler:
I don't think the Vishnans object to fighting per se. They liked humanity because humans have been able to end wars before one side or the other was totally wiped out, and make peace with former enemies. So, they won't have a problem with Bei fighting... so long as it ends in peace.
