Maybe there's already such a topic, but who gives a **** and it's dead for over 12 years anyway.
So here's me. Note the button on my nose I noobily hid with some skin of my nose. Other buttons too.
Post yourself too.

That's taken... a bit more than two years ago. Haven't changed too much since then.

Is that a glider?
-
Yes. It was more of a one-time occasion though, sadly. It was awesome. Got to fly some level flight and turns myself (might not sound too impressive but it's actually damn hard to do correctly, especially with a glider with no powerplant to keep the fuselage relatively straight in the airstream), including the final approach turn from the wind leg. The flight instructor did a couple of loops and vertical turns, and the actual landing. Two short flights with tow to approcimately 500 metres (~1700 ft), unfortunately there were no thermal currents going on to speak of that day so it was pretty much one-way ticket down from there. Still took about 15-20 minuts to glide down from there.
If you get a chance to do something like that, ever, go for it.

Glider flying is interesting stuff. I recall my first flight as a 14-year-old kid. We stayed up for an hour, 25 minutes of that circling a thermal flow. You wouldn't believe how rough ride it is, and how sick you can start to feel when you try to keep yourself straight when that's the last mistake you can do. The instructor also did a spin, a 4G turn and stall. That was quite a fun ride. And yes, turning is extraordinarily difficult if one wants to have a smooth even turn rate. Very recommended experience indeed. The funny thing is also that you need to get lots more warmer clothes in the airplane, it is so much colder at 2 km height. And the feeling when you jump out of the cockpit on the tarmac and there is a gentle blow of wind, it felt like I would freeze!
Sometimes I wish I had pictures from the Air Force pilot test, mainly from the air chamber. On the other hand, it is good luck that no-one took a picture of that. Oh, that was the place where my head stopped cooperating with the pressure differences, and was a reason I never got to sit in military aircrafts.
Should I attach a picture of my ugly mug? Nah.

I'll post my mugshot on May 2nd.
-
I hope that isn't cause that's your 18th birthday and thus the first day you can legally post naked pics. :p
-
:wtf: Nah, I could do that right now if I wanted to. But this year May 2nd is the tenth anniversary of Hideto Matsumoto's untimely death, and on my book it's "Dye Your Hair Pink Day".
