Collada is really nice.
You got a PM with a link to some of the converted SoL models.
Btw, this smells like "material system". ;7

I know, I know... We proabably shouldn't use that for our current exports. ;)
-
no.. you shouldn't.. never should you... only diffuse maps will be respected
-
You want simple or complex meshes?
-
yes
-
Very simple Blender model. One is supposed to have proper turret hierarchy, the other flat. Also some lamps posing as substems/thrusters/turret firepoints.

BtRL sample "dae" pm'ed. I dont see an option for xml export.
-
dae is a xml format.
-
Yes, it's sweet.
If you have to, you can open it with notepad and edit stuff.
Collada even saves helpers (well, except for point helpers) and, maybe most importantly, it saves the stuff in the user defined tab.
I don't see any downside yet. At least not for artists. ;)
-
Do you still need some more models?
-
i'm good for now.. haven't started on it yet been busy with school and buying a car
-
Are you buying a Rinspeed Squba? Or a Splash?

Please don't forget, some of us use grouping instead of heirarchy. Or in this case using both, linking the turret parts together (barrel->body) then grouping them in a group, then linking the turret group to the hull. Hmmmm you know done right, this could make setting up multi turrets a very trivial process.
