Title: converter that doesn't slay bandwidth
Post by: woodburner on February 15, 2008, 03:07:53 pm
Hello. If you don't really know about me, I'm really new to modding. I've decided to make a new ship.
I've got Blender and modveiw, but not TrueSpace, and want something that will turn a Blender export (any one is fine) into a .cob file that will not kill my bandwidth or take up too much memory (under 1 gig if possible). I've got no idea where to start and when I Google it it brings up million-dollar programs that make the remaining 3 gigs on my computer sound laughable.

Help? Please?

Here is a link for a Blender to COB export. It has been carefully zipped to keep it within your 1 gig bandwith limitations.
http://files.filefront.com/truespace+FS2+basic+exportzip/;9638846;/fileinfo.html (http://files.filefront.com/truespace+FS2+basic+exportzip/;9638846;/fileinfo.html)

It needs to go in your Blender scripts directory.

Select everything you want to export (object mode)
Hit CTRL-A (clears scale and rotation)
then export

Hierarchy is on the todo list

FWIW, the only things that take lots of bandwidth are pretty graphics. A converter or other small program will only take 5-20 MB.
