Guys:
I have played the Demo & the fan made single missions over and over; any idea when the finished product will be ready? Although I AM a patient guy, I'd like to know approximately when we can get our reward!
TIA

Like every bigger project around here: "When it's ready".

Just wait the WC Saga team have lives away from their PCs you known! They can't spend every minute of there lives working on the game.

"When It's Done" has become something of a tradition here at HLP. Unfortunately while the game itself looks better and better every time we play it, the release date continues to recede into the mist. Better see the game late than be bad, eh? :)
-
I waited an extremely long time on the Saga Prologue, and it came out pretty good... so I think I'm willing to keep waiting.
Besides - I'm having fun making custom missions. Though I would like having a little more material to work with (Like maybe a Pakhtahn bomber, or Vaktoth Heavy Fighter... :ick: )
-
use the Zartoth model and create a separate tbl entry for it ;)
-
Guys:
A hearty 'thank you!' to all who replied; not worry guys; it was worth the wait() for the demo AND the fan-made addons---so it shall be with the whole game I'm sure!
As I said I'm a VERY patient guy! :D

Hey Flash:
How are you able to make custom mission? Am I missing something? Oh and I am REALLY NOT very PC literate so please use SMALL words ;)
Thanks, ahead of time

FRED?
-
Lobo:
OK...Now here is where it gets tough: Where is the FRED feature? I see the FRED feature in FSO but it ONLY seems to have FS related ships & objects; Is there one in the 'Saga' demo?

Not having done any FREDding myself, I can't give you my word on any of this. But, TBP comes with FRED_Open. And the WCS site says that you can use FRED_Open to create your own missions. So, as a long shot, I'm guessing you can download/copy a FRED_Open build to your WCS directory and use it to make missions. Some WCS related person who actually knows something about the subject could either confirm this or offer valid instructions.
Though there might be a FRED in the WCS directory already. I wouldn't know. Haven't played WCS yet. I'm patiently waiting for the 'full' release. Like with BtRL.

I've been just re-arming the Zartoth on the fly by editing the ship properties... but I'm not very experienced at creating tbl entries... it's something that's frankly a bit beyond me at this point I think. Only problem is that I'm limited to 2 single missiles without creating the seperate entry. Any good place to learn to do this?
To the others: Just run FRED from the WCS root directory, and you'll have WCS material to work with. The only problem's I've encountered so far with FREDing the WCS Prologue is you're limited to the material in Prologue, unless you're ahead of where I am in FREDing experience. For example - there are no female pilot voices, so for the female pilots on my roster, I've disabled in game messages and had to write messages that send during specific points. (I created custom death messages by using "send random message" on the death of the wingman, choosing between an ejection message and a death message)
My wife has been considering doing some voice acting, but without ADDITIONAL cast members, only one or two characters would have voices while the others remain silent. I'd rather just have everyone be silent and wait patiently for WCS.

Tell me again what you are getting rewarded for?
-
All good things. . . . I'm confident i can wait for Saga, Red Line and ST Reborn. Remember back in the day when TBP seemed like it would take an eon? The Dragon fighter will make the wait worthwhile for me. :)

No, I would prefer a quick buggy release  :D (lets say...tomorrow :p ) and then stress the hell out of you for the patches to fix it :hammer:...hehehehe
Then, even if you ban me :beamz:, I still get to play WC:SAGA all day long :wakka:

Our reward will be a great game that's a real 'blast from the past'!

but some sort of status list would be something ( Standoff has one too ).
That one ( http://www.wcsaga.com/content/view/16/35/ ) has not been updated for aeons and it's also very general.
-
Yeah, we should update that. :nervous:
-
Nope. A fancier status bar will not accelerate the development of the game. It will be released, when we think that the game is ready. And it might give you some false impressions. For instance: the prologue campaign was finished back in 2005, the release was on 31th of december (2006). Right now, I estimate that the game is 65-70% complete. We will be conducting a first round of beta test in a few months. So some of you will have a chance to play it fairly soon. ;)
-
Ooooh! Ooooh! Pick me! Pick me!

(Sorry... built up instinct from years of being picked last for kickball back in 80's)
-
We'll see. ;)
When all goes as planned, we could start the closed beta in 2-3 months.
-
that's all I asked for Tolwyn, thanks. (bzw. danke ;) ) just an estimate from somebody how's up to date.
-
If that is all you wanted... By the way, you are a FREDer, aren't you? ;) How about helping us finish the game?:)
-
Sounds great!!
-
...well...
Actually I wanted to fred something together with IPAndrews for TBP. Additionally, I would like to get suprised by the story and be a player instead of a fredder. And I don't have much exp with campaign variables and branching, it's likely that I am not good enough.
So if you are not in dire need of more fredders, I have to refuse. :blah:
Testing now problem but fredding myself, I am not sure... :nervous:
-
Let's put it this way: we could use at least one additional FREDer. It would accelerate the development progress by at least three months.
-
I wouldn't mind helping... and I think I have enough time (I'm in the US Army Band in Japan)... but I'm prettysure that my skills are not up to snuff in helping you out. After all, you can read back on the short history of all the questions I've asked. I'd love to make the project come along faster, but I'd hate to drag down the quality at the same time. :sigh:
-
now I am under psychological pressure, yes? :nervous: I'll think about it
-
It seems so ;)

It is a question of dedication. I've started FREDing one year ago, after the release of the Prologue. It took me 3 weeks to finish my first mission (it turned out pretty well too). Now I need about a week for a mission. That is, when I have enough time on my hands.

and not learning like Maniac is flying for your Abitur :doubt: (note to non-germans: that's a very difficult school degree)
-
it is actually Vordiplom. Last exam is tomorrow ;)

I was talking about me :D :D :D
-
Guys:
Glad to hear that things are progressing....
Am REALLY looking forward to the finished product!

We have gathered solid forward momentum in the past months. Still no ETA though. ;)
-
I think we pushed the ETA from late 2669 to early 2669 because of the good progress? ^_^
-
Indeed, that's what we did!
-
Quick everyone...to the time machine! We need to visit the future! :D

Bring me back a newspaper from 2008 with the lotto numbers ^_^
