Title: A problem with the 'Paper Wall' mission in 'Derelict'
Post by: Mitsialis on February 17, 2008, 01:20:59 am
Guys:

OK...I'm am having a problem getting the order to depart; thanks to the use of cheats, our forces are able to destroy ALL Cap ships except for the Lucifer, 'Nyarlothotep'( or however it's spelled), and keep our forces alive at the end, and I succeed on all the goals...however, no matter HOW long I wait I never get the order to jump home & end the mission---and I waited a LONG time (at 64 X speed too!);

What do I need to do?

TIA

Maybe some of the allied ships were supposed to die? It's possible that a FRED event was tied to the supposedly-inevitable death of an allied ship, and your cheating prevented that from happening.

Try doing the mission without cheats. Turn the difficulty down if you're having trouble.

Also, a warning, if you refuse to do it without cheats, no one's likely to try to help, because the cheats are probably causing the issue.

This is what you get when you cheat. A Paper Wall isn't really what you'd call a 'Win Win' mission. Try again without cheats and see what happens.

Turn the difficulty down. Or just make yourself invulnerable, but not allied ships.

That mission is supposed to end with the freighter that delivered the Meson dying, the Meson damaging some ships, you taking down a cruiser and a corvette, and not much else. All the Mjolnirs are supposed to die fairly quickly, so don't feel bad if you don't kill a lot of Shivans before then.

Again, just cheat to keep you and your wingmen alive if its causing you too much difficulty. Otherwise just let things happen.

The only real problem with Derelict is that it was so carefully scripted that one ship not blowing or reaching its waypoints could be a show-stopping bug. Paper Wall was the one of the most notorious ones of these, as well as Said The Spider To The Fly
