Title: Screwed Modveiw
Post by: woodburner on February 19, 2008, 02:09:05 pm
Hello. I just made an anti-juggernaut, the Allegiance, and Iused the Trusepace_Fs2_Basic thing to convert my model (with some UV faces, like it said) and I went into Modview 32_HI and imported it and it quit out! :hopping: The same thing happened for Modview 32.

Getting a new Modview isn't out of the question, but my computer or Blender(which hasn't had any problems sofar except for ignoring my clicks, but that's a different story.) could be the problem. I REALLY hope that's not the case.

If you want to cut Truespace out of the picture then you will need to go here http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=52264.0 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=52264.0) and download the replacement to the Blender export script. With the update, getting stuff to PCS2 is easier.

I'm curious to see what happens...

From my POV people are way too quick to dismiss our lower quality tools.

It's like what Jane said on Firefly, "When I'm out you hand me the next biggest one and so on..." (talking about loaded guns while set for an ambush).

"The are my favorites" he must have had 12-15 guns/rifles lined up on the bed.

Modview should simply never be used for conversions. I'm not saying this because I hate modview, but because it was recognised early on that modview produced very poor meshes collision detection wise. Mods usually want the best quality they can get in terms of stability for the least effort. For everything related to cob conversion, PCS1 (and now 2) simply does everything that the other tools does and do it far better.

If you had two sticks of RAM for your machine and one slot to put them in, which would you pick? The slow old 256mb stick or the high quality 1gb stick? ;)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending any of those points at all. If people are doing simple things then it's not a sin to use whatever works, long as it works for you to your satisfaction (and on a case by case basis). I've got probably a hundred models MV has given me the finger on, and many more no problem. But then again I've been very lucky.
