Title: New Ship Mesh
Post by: an0n on February 14, 2002, 09:05:50 pm
Got bored, knocked this up. It's all one sub-object. Extruded from a cube. Forgot to get a ploy count but must be pretty low.

I used about 20 Edit Mesh stack thingies to select the appropriate faces and just kept extruding. Took me about a half hour.

Yes you may use it. Want me to e-mail it to ya?

Duh it was extruded from a cube! I do really like it. I don't think that I could do that with 1 cube!

this is extruded from a cube too, as are all my models.

I love the extrude function of a 3d modeler. Its great when you want to duplicat something and put facecs on it. Makes modeling fast!

well, just along the general lines because i have some need designs but i keep getting told that they have to be made from one subobject and i cant do that with rhino:bump:

With your models I think it'd be easier to weld the vertices.

can you do that for me? because they keep telling me "it wont work, you gotta make it out of one subobject"  while i on the other hand have no clue what they're talking about

in MAX I make 1/2 the model and mirror it as a reference.

then any changes to the original appear on the mirrored half.

once I'm finished I use the connect tool to join the 2 halves & polychop to optimise the poly count.

Ooooh. You is clever.

also, when you extrude one side, extrude the other at the same time: same settings= same extrusions= symetry.
That won't work if you move a single puny vertex a quarter half of pixel, tho.

Is extrude different to Sweep?

extrude and sweep are the exact same things
