Title: playing online
Post by: Stealth on February 29, 2008, 01:09:38 pm
call me noob, but i just saw this:
http://fs2netd.game-warden.com/?p=0

and i want to play FS2 open online.

all i've ever played is FS1 and FS2.  never downloaded or even looked at anything related to the SCP, although i'm interested, and at one point even helped Inquisitor by managing the beta testers (years and years ago).

So how do i go about installing FS2open, and playing it online?

Turey's installer will upgrade your FS2 install to FS2_Open. After that it's a case of following the instructions here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,49012.0.html).

It's fine. Just don't use the FSO launcher. Either use the retail launcher or just run straight from the retail exe.

Installed correctly the two won't interfere with each other. I frequently pop back to retail to check how old a bug is.

Using the media VPs gets you that. The 3.6.10 ones will be validated once they are out of beta though.

I also removed the mediavps... won't work though :mad2:

You only needed to go to the launcher and select no mods in order to turn them off BTW. If doing that doesn't get rid of the warning then check your freespace folder and data\tables folder. You shouldn't have any table or tbm files in either. You shouldn't have any VP files that weren't installed by the retail game (except for the multiplayer voice and missions ones).

Run the debug build and post the fs2_open.log you find in Data.
