OK I just got Freespace reinstalled using the installer, and it works up to the commit button where you select the pilot. I select the pilot, click commit, and the computer restarts.
System specs
3 gig processor,
512 meg memory
Pentium 4
Dell 17" monitor
Logitech Wingman 3d extreme stick.
radon 200 integrated graphics chipset, with latest and greatest updated drivers.

And what about your PSU?
-
PSU?
Everything is the same as it used to be except I have a new hard drive, the last one ground to a halt.
-
I'm betting it's something with the PSU. What kind of hard drive are you using?
-
A PSU problem would explain the HD giving up the ghost. If it's not hardware I'm betting it's OpenAL. I had the exact same problem on a Win2K install about a year ago which I traced back to the fact that the driver CDs had installed OpenAL 1.0.
Of course the solution is fairly easy (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,48160.0.html).

Right now I have a WD hard drive :( no seagates available currently for some reason.
As far as the open AL I have the latest of that too.I'll try to installer again after I redownload it (again) I seem to only have these FS problems when I have to reinstall FS.
-
The problem is not having the latest, the problem is having the old one too.
-
Try a new pilot.
-
The problem is not having the latest, the problem is having the old one too.
Ok sop I need to uninstall any open al's that I have and install nothing but the latest right?
I'll try that and see what happens. Also if I have FS2 retail on disk, does that affect Tureys installer too? cause tha last time with teh old computer I had to install FS2 retail then update everything with the installer.
-
I did link you to the solution. :p
And installing FS2 on top of retail is recommended mainly cause it's quicker.
-
Yes you did, thanks, I read the thread you linked me to and completely bombed out and totally overlooked that when I was looking at the launcher on my computer.
I swapped open gl for the direct 3d and now I'm in training all over again.
Thanks a bunch karajorma, :)
