Title: FRED on vista problem
Post by: Ryan on March 05, 2008, 08:59:37 pm
So, I'm using my windows vista to run Freespace 2 now, since it had the power to run Freespace 2 open unlike my other computer. I open fred because i want to see how any lucy's a collusus can take on, and i place one of the collosuses, but placing a lucifer wont work. Or any other ship twice. I press the button to place another ship down, and nothing happens. I double click the mouse button while  holding down control and i bring up the ship menu for the collosus. I can't even deselect the ships, so i cant even drag wings together if i place fighters around.

Does vista not work well? Am i doing something wrong? Is it because I'm on a labtop?

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that you don't have wireframe models turned on.

Turn them on, it helps.

That will be on by default from 3.6.10 onwards (well that or solid models, I can't remember which one I picked) so hopefully we can consign that particular bug to the dustbin of history. :)

Thank you for the ship help! I can now actually plae more then one kind of ship. But there is some other bug in the event manager. When i type in something like beam-free-all or send-message in Fred2 open, it just changes back to do-nothing. Can you please tell me how to fic this one?

Sorry for being so annoying.

Don't type SEXPs in. Pick them from the pop up menu when you right click.

One bonus of doing things that way is you learn what is available and spot new additions much more quickly. :)
