Title: Freespace 1 Freeze

Hey guys,

Anybody else having a problem with Freespace 1 freezing? This is the first time I have ever encountered something like this. After a fresh install, it freezes when I'm putting my callsign name in. Not sure why it's doing this. I just reformatted right before installing the game too.

Is it my graphics card?

It's a EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB.

Do you mean retail FS1?  If so try FS2_Open with FSPort.  It's much better.

A mod that allows you to play the FS1 campaign with the FSO/FS2 engine. Quite handy. Not all FS1 elements are present, but still highly enjoyable, mostly thanks to the graphical enhancements provided by FSO and the mediavps.

Get it here, but put it in it's own folder, not your FS1 folder. Your FS2 folder is fine, if you have one mod free.
