OK listen, I have a campaign idea. I don't know if it's good but interesting maybe.
Delta Serpentis right? Sol node is unstabilized but suddenly, a shivan destroyer (Lucifer I think) jumps out from the node. That's just the beginning but might be great when ready. Someone should do it!!!

How about the Lucifer turns around when it's reactors hit 20% and it heads back to DS and wipes out the fleet?

I think that's not possible! :doubt:

Why?

If you want it mysterious, let's see a (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/images/smilies/vacuum.jpg) jump out of the node, report it's under attack by unknown forces, then explode due to a reactor breach...
and the node remains closed.

omg, this is embarassing....thats not a campaign idea, thats a short 10 second clip idea, mabye a one mission idea, because theres no way the Lucy woulda survived more than a couple more jumps afterwards since the GTVA already -knew- how to kill it. On standard drives squadrons can take out its support and keep her from getting resupplied, it'll die rather quickly.
Second, at 20%, its already lost 80% of that reactor. What makes you think it can survive long enough to return with only 20% when it only took a quarter of the trip to take down the first 20%?

It's not the same Lucy destroyed by the GTVA in 2335, let's say the year is oh...2386. The destroyer just jumps out from the Sol node and noone knows what's going on behind there.

Yea, and like shivans have no idea what going on. Everyone are confused. Then they realised, that they didnt destroy lucy in 30s, but it travelled in time. It can be short campaign. about 4/6 missions. You have to destroy Lucy when it's shieldet.
Well first mission is like you have to come to one possition. You are Alpha one and you saw lucy jumping out of a node, and you have to report that to cammand, bu you can't get connection. So you have to travel there. <-- 1st mission. Other ones you figure em out!
Sorry about mistakes:p

How about a new Shivan juggernaught instead?
Oh, BTW WMCoolmon? That' impossible, or at least there's a 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999to 1 chance that that would happen, because, first, it couldn't get through an un-stabalized node (unless it's been stabalized, and the ships explosion closes it again) and, secondly, that's a GTVA Vasudan destroyer model, it's almost impossible for the Vasudans that were trapped in Sol to create one that looks exactly the same (see chances above:p)

I don't know about the unstabilized node thing, but there is a chance that a Hat could have come through had it been stabilized. What if a rengade group of Vasudans had discovered a new way back to earth, say a new node formed spontaneously between Sol and Alpha Centauri, and the GTVA havn't found it yet? If the node was stable, they could have gone to Earth through the back door, found it had been taken over by a strange new race (it's under attack by unknown forces remember, and there was a third node leading away from Earth in FS1 (It was conveniently deleted in time for FS2)), and they return to DS through the somehow stable Sol-DS node. granted it's not likely, but it's more than 1 to 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 at least. You just have to think a bit.
Edit - Just got one. It's even less likely than the Hat finding a secret node, but hey, I'm just writing what's coming into my head. What if Sol had discovered a way to do a sort of system-wide subspacial degaussing, which, over a few weeks, knocked the node back into alignment. It could also produce nodes, eg the one to Alpa Centauri which the Hat used, and then the Hat leaves through the almost-but-not-quite-stable Sol node, and just barely makes it through.

Well, at least there's a chance it could happen...the other thing would be to have a bunch of headz and fish float out of the node while closed :D

And a Vasudan patrol stumbles on them...
Vasudan 1: Look! Headz and fishes just emerged from the collapsed jump node to earth!
Vasudan 2: Does this mean that if we opened up the jump node that we could have all the headz and fishes we wanted?
Vasudan 1: I think so...
:D
*suddenly the Lucifer jumps in and wastes everybody* :wtf:
Oh well, too bad... :D
