How the f*** do you set up the numbering in Word 2007 so that it doesn't start from the first page?
I have a PDF to make, burn on a CD and hand over together with the paper, but I can't get the damn numbering to work! It's driving me insane!

Do you have the first page as a cover? 'Cause in that case I think the only option is to make Word feel itself stupid. Do the first page as a separate file. Then, just open the original one and add the page numbers.

Yeah, that's what I did... I have 4 pages that shouldn't be numbered and I put them in a separate file for printing. It's easy to combine then together after that.
But I also have to deliver the paper as a PDF document...which means I have to have 1 file... Oh boy....

page break? section break?
-
I fiddled with the options for hours.. ..Page/section break does nothing really.
what I need is hte first 4 pages to not have any numbering and after that it goes normally...1,2,3,4,5,..etc..

dont use word ...........download pdf creator and use it to print page into a pdf from windows as a default printer,
-
... I think that won't solve the page number issue, since he has to first get them right before doing any pdfs.
Also, I prefer CutePDF Writer.

I've been mainly using Word 2000, and some of Word XP.
Anyway.
Stuff like headears and page numbering go into page headers and foot. Go into -->View and you can select to edit it. Now comes the fun part.
You can have a different header and foot for each section. So insert a section break, and tadah, you can delete the page number (which also happens to be a field entry that you can manually add, instead the insert --> page number method).
Simplest way I can think of:
Add page numbering.
You should put the 'separate' pages onto the end of the file.
Simplest way to turn a word file into a pdf?
Use PDFCreator. It adds a virtual printer. You 'print' the file with it, and it makes a pdf file.
Insert a section break right before these pages.
Go to the first of these pages, go into page header/foot view (I use a Hungarian version of Word most of the time so I don't know its proper name). Select the page number - delete it.

He's using Word 2007 so he doesn't have "menus" like any sane program would. He has to contend with tabs, which I myself find easier to navigate, but they require you to reacquaint yourself with the new system.

I managed to figure it out...They sure as hell didn't make it simple tough...

so tell us how :D

...Is it really that difficult to figure out?
