This may sound just a little stupid, but let's say that I had some experience from messing around with the original FRED, which version should I start using that's in my Freespace folder? I used Turey's installer, so I have
- FRED2
- fred2_open_3_6_9
- fred2_open_3_6_9_debug
- fred2_open_3_6_10-20071007T
- fred2_open_3_6_10_debug-20071007T
Okay, that's them all.

Use FRED 2 Open 3.6.10(not the debug version). Add a link to your desktop et voilĂ !

Thanks.

No problem :
I think that should be used in conjunction with a 3.6.10 build of FS Open to work ;)
-
Which you should use depends on when you plan to release your missions. If it's something soon you can't use 3.6.10 as most people use 3.6.9 official. If you're working on a campaign go for 3.6.10 but keep updating it when new ones come out.

Any idea on when the forum-wide switchover will take place?
-
When 3.6.10 Official is release. No idea when that will be though.

That's something damn true I didn't take in consideration, I've already experienced it. Is it possible to convert a 3.6.10 campaign to a 3.6.9 one, even if it uses 3.6.10 features?
-
I was told it is. You can comment out the 3.6.10 features so they only get used with 3.6.10 and later builds. Think you just put ;;FSO 3.6.10;; in front of the version specific stuff. Never actually tried it yet.

Thanks for the hint. Fortunately, none of my WIPs is going to get released before FS Open 3.6.10.
(I am a bit worried for Steadfast's demo, though)
