Alright.
I have a small piece of work I have done and would now like to export it to a avi file so I can import it into Premiere for a video. How do I do this.
Thanks

Only to prefent misunderstandings. You have made a scene with models light and so on in 3d Max and want to make a short movie.
Wrong-> I can't help you
Right ->
1) You need a camera in the scene. When the camera is in the right pleace go to Rendering -> Video post.
2) Go one the button Add Scene Event . Select your camera under view. (Default perspective)
3) Add image output event click files. Typ in a name for your scene and select AVI as format. If you have DivX it will be possible to code the movie in DivX.
An other way ist, much easier but sometimes not so good.
1) Go into the Scene Render menu.
2) Search Render output and click file. Under Datatype you can select Avi,jpg and so on. Select Avi and thats it.
Make sure that you have selectet the right view.
I think thats it hope that it helps you.

If you're talking about 3Ds MAX, then you can save the ani. in .AVI-format directly.

Ryx, that's only if you didn't use any videopost effects.

I know. Lars posted as I was typing, so I didn't see his reply.

Thanks guys.....I do have cameras in my scene. There are two probably going to end up with about 5. One other thing. I have a pan shot where the camera pans across open space. Is there a way where I can get the stars to blur slightly. So it does not look like a still picture for 25 frames. Thanks

A quick question on the rendering into a avi. It asks me about the view that I want. Does it matter what view it is in or will it automatically use the camera views set up in video post. I am watching it render it right now and it looks like it is useing the perspective view port only. How can I get it to use the cameras only.
Thanks

Normaly you set the view in the video post. There should be a selection like
Perspective, side .... and Camera1, Camera2....
Make sure that one of the cameras is selectet there.
Motion blur can be set in the same menu. Sowhere there is a button Blur.
If you only want the Stars have a blur go to the Starmenu. Click Setup, there you will find a optional blur.
Are you using the Render in the video post option or the Render Scene button?
In the video post is a "small running man button". Use that if you used the Render Scene button befor.

Thanks
I think I got it working now. My small minimovie is only 200 frames long so I have about a hour ahead of me of rendering. Thnaks for the info.
