Title: The Babylon Project homepage updated
Post by: IPAndrews on March 23, 2008, 12:02:19 pm
I'm expecting most of the forum to have died of shock at the thread title, meaning I am talking to myself at this point. Anyhow if anyone has any further suggestions for changes to the homepage then feel free to pitch in. A major site overhaul though is out of the question as my web design skills are negligible.

well, for example
- instead of hosting all those outdated tutorials (f.e. how to make your own vp) just remove them and link to the Freespace Academy or to Kara's guides  :)
- update the damn links
- praise all the new features and bugfixes somewhere

praise all the people (including yourself!!!) how contributed recently  !!!

FRED Academy

My FAQ's obviously in my sig. Link them to the main FRED page at least. The common mistakes page is probably a good idea too as the majority of it applies to TBP.

You could add some ingame videos to the website to attract more players. Of course, you are allowed to use mine if you like.

Youtube videos are only in 320x240.
At filefront.com you can upload videos in 1280x1024(or even more) and add links to them on your website or as optional HD version in youtube.

Well, our website schould be more like a commercial than an info spot.

I think of the following
1. main
  - news and discription of project
  - history ( news archive )
2. links
  - to forum
  - to hard light
  - to anything else one could be interested in when playing TBP
3. download
  - link ( or download ) to all possibilities to get latest TBP
  - links to all known addons ( CAMPAIGNS !!!! )
4. gallery
  - screenshots
  - videos

So. No staff, no contacts, no news, or any other bureaucratic staff that is of no interest anyway.... :)
Its not too hard to make such a site, I will give it a try with a candidate if you like.

Heyho... yes , I dont have Internet at home, and it isnt likely to be changing the next months too....
With the possibilities of INGAME SEXP-CUTSCENES I came to the conclusion I have to incorporate thi into the EACW scripts....

The EACW missions that were done so far by Slasher and IPAndrews do not even come close to my standards of "atmosphere" I expect from EACW missions, so I have started to experiment with fredding.

The first 40 seconds of my SEVERED DREAMS mission is just great so far :)

The main concern is VOICE ACTING. I'll need lots of help with that.
Does ANYONE have contacts with a filming studio or so ? It would be great if we could have the cutscenes filmed.

Download the video and check out the first two minutes to see if the editing skills of that guy are good enough for our needs.

The film is a simple pvp playermovie for a mmog called Lineage 2 to show the community some fights - kinda mass production. I am sure he could create something epic for TBP if we delivered him the material. Like I stated earlier my clan also has ~ 10 voices, male and female all ages and international accents. We will be there to help out when voice acting is needed. We have a Teamspeak server to coordinate the recording together.

Anyhow if anyone has any further suggestions for changes to the homepage then feel free to pitch in.

If you want to give visitors a quick preview of TBP you can embed videostreams on your website hosted for free by www.blip.tv.
Even HD resolution is possible there. For example you could attract people with a videostream of the current cool TBP-intro.

An example of this can be seen here:
