Title: FreeSpace font ?
Post by: ShadowGorrath on March 24, 2008, 09:29:04 am
Hey,

I saw the FreeSpace font used on Orion nameplates ( called STOP ), and the other one used in menus and texts ( forgot how it's called ) on TV and over the internet. Those are nice fonts, but as I saw them often used on TV channels ( like CNN ) and internet adds, I am getting a bit confused... Did Volition actually make that font, or did they borrow it from someone else and just convert it to work on FreeSpace?

Bank Gothic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_Gothic)- invented 1930.

The STOP font was apparently invented by this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldo_Novarese) guy, look up "STOP" and you'll get a disambig page which says so.

So, no surprise, Volition didn't invent any of these fonts. They're used everywhere.
