For that ugly recolored Jupiter?

Honestly, I doesn't much resemble a gas giant to my eyes. There's no atmosphere haze around the edges, and the clouds are done in such a way that it looks like a ball of marble. I think you should work on it some more to make it look more like a true gas giant and less flat.
-
You're right, and i will work on it more, but my point is, it's better than the ugly old recolored jupiter no?
-
Yes. I hardly ever use that planet bitmap in my missions, so I rarely think about it.
-
It looks like a big ball of liquid metal... can anyone say "weird alien artifact" :P
-
It looks nothing like a planet. Go back to trying to model. :P
Looks to much like a marble.
EDIT: It doesn't look ANYTHING like Jupiter.

That was sort of the point... i didn't want it to look like jupiter. besides it's not even done :p

Gas giants should look like known existing gas giants, not like balls of metal. If you're going to replace a gas giant, unless you want to screw up some campaigns and missions, do it with something that looks like a gas giant. Anyway, I don't think it should be a replacement so much as a new one.
-
Agreed, it doesn't really look like a giant giant fo me, more like a planeT1000  John Connor: Beware!
-
It does need some weather system though, see how the clouds band together at the equator on Jupiter, and look at the storm, something like that on your planet would look good. It's a gas giant, it must have a climate!

The problem is i'm having some problems dragging the atmosphere around with iwarp without completely screwing up the shadows
-
you could try iwarping just the hue and sat.
-
Is that a photoshop only feature?
-
IWarp (GIMP) = Liquify (PS)
-
Whatever. I can't find a way to not include Lum. i'll look it over later
-
Use layers and layer blending modes.
That is, make the image, duplicate the layer. Then, take the new layer, IWarp. Then, set the blending mode to Color. Presto! If needed, merge the layers again.
-
Liquid metal ball =/= gas giant
Cool effect though. Might steal for skydome. :drevil:
