I have been experimenting with ship mods lately and have started to rub up against the ship limit. I have been using TBM files for my modding. It would be nice to be able to remove entries (so that they don't count against the ship limit). This would be sort of like the +nocreate flag, in that it is for TBMs only. Could it be done?

thats a good idea, i know nukemod makes use of a ships.tbl (the retail one minus a few ships) to cull he number of ships down abit. and this interferes with media vp compatibility. then i can say get rid of the bastion, the sjd sathanas, and the volition bravos and still use the more up to date tables in the media vps.

This is an excellent suggestion.

Wow. I was just about to say I liked this idea, then I thought "nah the other developers will end up not liking it because it would open up cans of worms I haven't thought of yet". So it's nice to see Goober likes it ;)

I thought suggesting this was like a taboo or something. I have no idea where I got that impression...

There's never anything wrong with asking (as long as it's not a commonly denied request). It's when people insist it's done or try to cajole the team into doing it even once they've been told no that we get upset.
Or if we're told it's easy. Never say that.

I added a "+remove" flag for beam sections a while back. I considered adding it for ship/weapon entries as well, but never really got around to it. So, it's obviously got my vote, and now all we need is someone to volunteer to code it up. :)

I would take a look, but its not really worth it as I can't get the code to compile with XCode

A quick question related to ship-related tbm/tbls. What is "autoaim?"
