Got a slight issue.
Used the installer to install FSO (which is great, made life easier for me), and was delighted to see an FS1 port...used the installer to install it as well.
Now...funny thing. The FS1 campaign doesn't want to work...I mean, I see the FS1 intro movie, I see the flight deck of the GTD Galatea...but the game loads up the FS2 briefings and the 2 FS2 training missions (coincidentally, in those missions I'm flying a Ulysses...a bit ironic, considering the Myrmidon was the replacement for it...), and then the game crashes because it can't load certain weapon types.
The mod.ini file gives no help, and according to the installer I've downloaded the most recent FSport files...so...er...can anyone help me?

In addition to selecting the FSPort folder as your mod with the Launcher, you must also select the actual FS1 campaign from the in-game Campaign Room.
-
It's not there. I have the 'silent threat' campaign and the 'Freespace 2' campaign.
-
The Main FreeSpace Campaign.
-
It's not there. I only have the 'Silent Threat' campaign and the 'Freespace 2' campaign, as I've already stated, listed. When I try to pick a campaign, those are the only two options.
-
In that case either you've broken something or possibly your fsport-missions.vp is corrupt. Try to redownload it with either Turey's Installer or from the FSPort website (FreeSpace Conversion under the Hosted drop menu on top of every HLP page).
-
I'll have to assume it's corrupted somehow, because I didn't mess around with any of the files that the installer (Turley's) installed.
-
Nope. Replaced the .vp file, still not working. I don't understand how I could have broken anything considering I just used Turey's installer to install everything...didn't add anything on my own.
-
This is fascinating, indeed. If you succesfully install the FSPort, and select is as a mod, you should have the FS2 campaign, the FS1 campaign and the Silent Threat campaign visible in the Campaign Room. Getting just Silent Threat in addition to the FS2 campaign is... weird. I suppose it won't hurt if you posted the contents of your fsport folder (mainly the vps you have there).
Or try this (http://koti.mbnet.fi/reiler/FunkyFreeSpaceStuff/freespace.fc2). Place it to your \freespace\fsport\data\missions folder (create the folder if/when necessary).

This'll be the last post for me tonight, as I need to be awake at 5am tomorrow for work...one of the disadvantages of trying to relive ones 'wasted' youth playing enhanced versions of your favourite old games is that you don't have the same amount of -time- to waste as you did WHILE you were a youth ;) But I'll be back tomorrow for sure. Anyway, on with this:
Tried your 'or try this' option, and that failed as well.
Here is the contents of my fsport folder in order:
Folders:
data
Files:
fsport3_0_4.vp
fsport-glow.vp
fsport-missions.vp
mod.ini
settings.ini
stu_fs1.vp
warble_fs1.vp
FS1OGGcutscenepack.vp
fsport-fs1_training.vp
fsport-hi_res.vp
fsport-shine.vp
readme.txt
sparky_hi_fs1.vp
tango_fs1.vp

So....
Any insights as to what may be the problem?
-
Gimme a sec. I'm uploading my FSPort mission and training mission vps. Still, the only thing that comes to my mind is that either one or both of those vps are corrupted at your end. And if redownloading didn't help, it is possible that they're flawed already at the server.
Edit: Done (http://koti.mbnet.fi/reiler/FunkyFreeSpaceStuff/FSPort.zip). Download and extract to the fsport folder. If this doesn't work... Seriously. I'm running out of ideas.
-
That fixed it; must've been the training missions.
-
I'm glad.

Thank you ^^
