I reinstalled windows on my moms new laptop last night. I installed all the drivers for it from To****ba, (it's a Tecra M7) but the screen refuses to change from landscape to portrait when rotated, even when I install the To****ba rotation utility. I didn't use the To****ba recovery disk cause I have a clean OEM version of Windows. In the NVidia GPU (Quadro NVS 110M) settings window there's a lot of crap that seems like it could be used to change the orientation, but none of it works. Anyone know how to make the screen rotate without using the To****ba disk?

Well, what OS is it you installed, exactly? If it's XP, the Tablet PCs use a special Tablet PC Edition. I'm not sure a regular edition is going to work properly.
-
It's XP Ultimate, a custom version that includes Tablet PC. The tablet works fine aside from the rotation issue. I think that the rotation was a custom addon from To****ba, as they have a program to download to make it rotate. I installed the program, but it doesn't work.

return it and buy a thinkpad tablet for flawless rotation
-
It's from my mom's office, tell you what, you pay 3500$ and I'll mail it to you. You can return it for a ThinkPad.
And Raptor Jesus Christ, do you do anything other than spam and act like an asshole?
-
Or you can get off your high horse and not hypocritically cry wolf every time i say 2 words.

But he never called you a retard.
All he did before you started yelling at him was suggest you return the computer and get a new one.

Let me guess, you're gonna get busted if it doesn't work properly? Why were you reinstalling Windows in the first place if it was a work computer?
At any rate, your best bet is probably to check on google or yahoo to see if someone has had a similar problem. Failing that, look for some utility that does the same thing, but was created by a third party. There may also be some standardized way that the laptop signals its position to the OS, so there may be a utility for another laptop model or models that will work. It's also possible that it's conflicting with another set of drivers - the NVIDIA control panel handles display orientation. One of those drivers may have a lock or override on the orientation command, and may have to be unintstalled or upgraded/downgraded in order to let the auto screen rotation utility work.

I reinstalled Windows cause my mom ****ed it up with spyware and stuff, it took over a half hour just for the logon screen to appear. I Googled, I couldn't find a utility to fix it, and the NVidia control panel doesn't seem to have a way to rotate the screen.

Of course not :

Figured it out, it was missing some "Toshiba Core Module" or something.
