Title: Setekh's Renders
Post by: Snail on March 30, 2008, 03:17:56 pm
Can we please save Setekh's old renders somewhere? Like the ones on This Random Place I Found On the Celebration Of FreeSpace Thread? (http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/staff/setekh/t-pride.jpg) How about replacing the whole "Array 3 is coming" on the Hard Light Array with some of Setekh's archived renders?

What do you think?

I wish they were up somewhere too.

Aren't they on Sectorgame? Or are the ones on Sectorgame made by someone else?

Though sectorgame doesn't work right now. I hope it fixes up.

Some of those are actually new to me, oddly enough, but I miss the Array with its backstory.

Some of them are by Setekh, but most of them are by other old farts who similarly disappeared.

I'm almost positive you can find a utility that can allow you to do that for windows.

And since when are macs not PCs? So they're not "private" computers?

Apple themselves compare Macs to PCs, hence the "I'm a PC" "and I'm a mac" adverts.  And it's Personal computer, not private.

Well, you see, you just accepted and confirmed the fact that Vista is a downgraded Mac OS X.

The one in Terran Pride? That's the Eris (Athena reskin) can be found on SG.

Arr, there's that render of the old Kronus.

I'ma release that tonight, particularly in hopes someone will make an HTL version of it.

Whoa. You guys are still talking about my work? I guess I just happened to turn up on the wrong day. ;)

Umm, yeah, http://staff.hard-light.net/setekh/ is probably the best mirror to go for (don't know how long that 3DAP one is going to hold up - amazed they still haven't gotten rid of our stuff on there). I would love to "restore" the Array some time - I'll see if I have some time to track down the backups.

Jesus Christ you hosted an IMAGE on RapidShare? It would have been a hundred times easier to host it on Imageshack, or even attach it.

Anyway, it's not a good ship at all since it's just a backwards Sekhmet with extra spikes.

So many ships from 1999 and 2000 were just stock FS2 models resized, reskinned, and with spikes or turrets added. I'm glad the community's modelers have moved on from that...

Those are great.

I totally agree, the only models that I downloaded in the old days were Dark's conversions.

If you flip it around...it could pass as a bomber...
wait...if you do that...it's a reskinned Sekhmet. With extra spikes.
Hell, the tech description says the Sekhmet is based on a Shivan design...which means...yes. we must flip it around, shrink it, and turn it into the Shivan Bomber the Sekhmet is based off of!

I was just saying that using spliced ships like the Cernunnos and the Sechat-Thor in modern mods seems silly to me.

It just needs a few more spikes nailed onto it.

It already has like three-score of them. :P

I said, it shows how desperate we are for Shivan models. I spent the past two days fixing up the ol' INFR1 SD Kismat...now it actually looks good-ish, and can actually defend itself too. It had horrid turret placement before... (One side had half the turrets of the other and you had free range over the top and bottom surfaces)

looks like it has "capital7" written all over it.
however, I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere

All I did to the Kismat was add ~10 turrets  :nervous:, add some (two) glow points and reskin it.

No idea, its just that there are a whole bucketload of Terran models in existence, a few Vasudan ones, and next to no Shivan ones.

In my experience, it's the other way around.  A ton of Terran ships, many Shivan ships, and very few Vasudan ships.  Without SA, there wouldn't be any Vasudan science ships or troop transports, for example.

I've managed to find a full, new, Vasudan fleet (StratComm's) - see "Some models that have dissapeared". (if we can contact him and get the files)
No such equivalent exists for the Shivans. In fact, IIRC, all new Shivan capital ships that exist are from INFSCP/INFR1, except for the SSJ Dante and SC Lamia. Well, at least the Shivans have got a few good fighters.

Then again, most zod ships do have gaping blind spots.
