I hope he's preparing for a surprise launch of the game :(
-
id hope its that one. However, lack of internet is more likely.
come on Devros, everyone cheer for him and he might return to us
-
I think the bloke is dead.
-
does anyone have a direct link with him. i serously DONT want this project to dry up. if anything, i was most looking forward to this one.

Devrous couldn't get on the internet
I think
-
Accidental death.. :sigh:
-
Some one could always email him. Its on his profile.

Quite a few people tried that. Work, it did not.

At first I was upset that I wouldn't get my hands on this mod. However, now I see that it's a good thing so that goddamn wankers like you can't see the download link, even if you don't download it at all.

Hey now, stop channeling an0n.

Couldn't help it. :nervous:
Well maybe I could, but if that attracts an0n here, that attracts more interest here, which will hopefully be a good thing.
-
Sent several email: No reply!
Although if he doesn't have internet (accidents do happen), than that's not really surprising.
-

Sorry, I check your urine: You have diabetes. I'm so sorry for you and your family.

Or if he's dead.

You just can't seem to be able to keep out of trouble can you? :D

Devrous was last on the boards February 28

WTF?
Devrous was last on the boards February 28
which meens? for we know, his computer decided to blow up its cpu, and now he does not have the money to replace it. not to mention that the entire project is now lost.
but if he didnt have internet, couldnt he go to the local library and just say, "sorry guys, the project is at a standstill untill futher notice?"
Beets me whats going on. i just hope he comes back soon
-
So do I: On the other hand, it would be good (just in case) to see if other volunteers want to head the project.
Also, has anyone tried to find him at bungie forums? I know I failed (how many spartians are there in these forums)?
-
well, someone coul make another halo mod for freespace, but theyd have to start form scratch, seeming all files for the mod where on his computer only
-
He hasn't been on the halo.bungie.org forums for a while now either.
-
Yeah I really wanted this to happen to. If he did blow his computer or lost internet he'd go to a library and tell us that hes still working netless or that the project fried into dust right? Unfortunately this seems abandoned.
-
Either he's dead, badly injured or has lost absolutely all interest in Halo as well as FreeSpace (maybe he got a job?).
-
Why does everyone think he blew up his PC? What are the odds of that happening?
-
depends on the conditions... but it happened to me... and it was a 3 year old piece of junk... so the odd are there
-
think about it: the odds of him ditching the freespace forums AND the bungie forums are pretty scarce (seeing what a halo fan he is). My opinion still stands.

Mine is 7 years.

On a side note, where'd jr2 go?

Your wait is over guys: I recieved the following mail from devrous:
"Starlord,
Hey! Yes, it has been a while. Fate conspired against
me over the last few months. A virus pretty much
"munched" my machine early Feb. The subsequent battle
for data-loss-prevention led me to blow some serious
cash, which also led to a lack of bill-payment! DOH!
Needless to say, I've been in the internet-less island
for a few months, crying myself to sleep...ok, not
really, but it was quite sad. I lost most of my
passwords and I, being a security freak, couldn't
remember most of my passwords to HLP, ModDB, and THIS
email account! I finally remembered today during
class. ATM I'm writing from a school computer, and I'm
honestly moved that there is a following for FS2H.
If you would be so kind as to either post this email,
or your own summary of it, on HLP I'd be most
appreciative. I'll be getting internet back properly
soon at my home, and I'll post myself once I get it
back up and running.
Rest assured that I have still been working on the
mod; at least as much as I could since its corruption.
Oddly enough, the same thing happened last year when
my C Drive failed for some reason. I'm beginning to
suspect that the culprit is actually my cousin, who
visits sometime in the late winter/early spring every
year, and he loves to play around with my computer. I
hate to say it, but if he visited the same set of
websites both this year and last, then I would find
the reason for my troubles!
At any rate, give everyone my best. I'll be back the
boards soon.
Thanks a ton,
Devrous
"
As you can see, he's pretty much alive, as well as the MOD.
Huzzah!
-
He must of all be dead if he's gotten a catastrophic hard drive failure twice in two years. :shaking:
-
It can happen: I have quite a reluctant computer.
3 vid card failures in 2 months.
-
To be honest I don't know how I would live if I were Devrous. No internet? All passwords gone? Hell, that's just terrifying.
-

Generally uberclocking cards can do that.
-
Yeah! Except I'm not playing with my hardware like this!
-
I've got reply!
I'm reading it atm.
-
Do you mind posting it up?

Hehe looks like he just sent everyone the same message and just changed the first line. :D
-
But how it was possible to FORGET passwords?! :D
-
Oh, it's possible. I once had a password which was 25 characters long. It started with 2$4#%j&Km (or similar), then goes on in the same fashion for the rest of the 16 characters. The only way I remembered it was through a small piece of paper which I hid in my room. I lost the paper when I was moving out and couldn't be bothered to retrieve the password.
-
I'm so glad the project is still alive

I've got one kind of like that, but I remember it. :p

Did anyone ask him for an update on project status?
How much more have he done since we last see him?
Is he going to release a demo?
-
No, Don't know, and Probably not soon
-
Let's be patient: we already know he'll be back. That's the main thing.
-
How much more have he done since we last see him?
Just to clarify: HIS PC DIED.
-

again!
someone should remind him to back up his work this time (maybe more than once)
(assuming he comes back)
-
...Rest assured that I have still been working on the

Thanks a ton,
Devrous
Are you sure his PC is "dead"? How can you still work on a mod if it is dead?
-
Gimme an "L"!
Gimme an "I"!
Gimme an "B"!
Gimme an "R"!
Gimme an "A"!
Gimme an "R"!
Gimme an "Y"!
-
seeming he emails a number of people here stating his pc was dead, its defineatly dead. And for all we know, he could of stored all the mod files onto a memory stick or some CD's.
Infact, it would be pretty stupid NOT to back work up in more than one location. At uni, we're taught to save work to more than one device
-
What happened is that his PC died, he had to get a new one, and thus didn't have enough money to keep the tubes open.
-
Ok, i think we are ALL confused. we can only hope that he will somehow come back and explain it in a new thread
-
Once and for all, he SAID CLEARLY he would be back.
-
More like internet cafe... IF most libraries are now like my local one, they are anal about saving anything (other drives are locked out)... I tried that route once (new policies). Had to spend like 10 bucks to DL TBP back in the day.
I'm glad he's well though. Pity on the serious setback for the mod however...
I'd suggest he idiot proof his passwords, a similar thing happened to me about a decade ago, I learned from it.
:D
-
even if his computer was dead and he lost the mod, he could rip out the hdd and stick it in a new one...
only problem with that is you need a computer of the same build... but i am sure he could borrow one.
-
Most PCs though still have ATA and SATA slots, though.
And I think that it was probably something more serious if he had to buy a new PC.
-
yeah, any hard drive made in about the last 15 years would work on even the newest motherboard
-
He'd better be back soon >: ( or we'll kick his ass!
-

I'll kick your balls before you kick his ass. :P
That's not the way to make people motivated to start working.

The garden snail is right. Lets not try to start the next Terren Vasuden war.

That would be Terran Vasudan.
-
Maybe someone should move this board to the archives until Devrous gets back, recent threads aren't interesting here.
-
I guess I could send him an email (again). :doubt:
-
done
-
I guess I could send him an email (again). :doubt:
It been, like, a week, did he reply? I'd hate to see this project go under :shaking:
-
Nothing so far, but let's still leave him time!
(after all, he said he would reply).
-
ok... so how long has it been now? 1 month 14 days? a fairly poor effort is it not?
-
Hmm. E-mail him and ask him what he needs. Is it a hard disk failure?
-
No idea. I recon either the computer burnt out, the cpu overloaded or a powersurge destroyed the uploading drivers on the hdd.
Ill email him, but dont expect a reply soon.
-
Well if it's the HDD, maybe I can help. ;)
-
I still got no reply from him!
Just in case he doesn't come back, are there others who might continue the project?
-
I may have to archive this forum... :D
He had a forum on SectorGame before he had one here anyway.
-
Wait another two weeks. If it's been two months since anyone last heard from him, we can archive then re-open if he reappears.
-
Let's hope it doesn't come to that!
-
Check his recent posts, I'm an outsider to the mod (and the Halo universe) but I'm pretty sure I saw a post sometime during May in one of the other boards.
-
Nope, last time he log in in hard light forums is like a million years ago.
-
He's on the run from Bungie(Makers of Halo)! ;7
Hope he's fine, I just got here and I see Halo stuff on Freespace.
-
He's on the run from Bungie(Makers of Halo)! ;7
And Microsoft.

Just Micro$oft. Think about it.
-
spartan, might you know anything more?
-
Negative, I just got on HLP website couple of days ago :(
-
If only he could just post ONCE!
-
Yeah...but didn't he forget his password? :doubt:
-
I KNOWWWWWW
-
How many emails did you bother him with? :P
-
3 If I recall well, well spaced!
-
The bottom line here is that you guys know what the deal is with him, and it's obvious that he's not able to get back online at this time. Since this was essentially a one-man project, there's no use wringing your hands over what's taking him so long. Just be patient until he's finally able to get back in contact with everyone.
