Title: UEFg Karuna
Post by: Zoltan on April 03, 2008, 02:19:34 pm
So I am working on a campaign at the moment and would love to use this (very nice) model. The problem is that I can't find much information about it, so I don't know which project or person to ask for permission to use it. I didn't think that it was ever released to the public, as it is only seen in Blue Planet, so I figured that it would be best to ask for permission first rather than use it and find out that I shouldn't have. Any information would be much appreciated.

Ask --Steve-O--. I hope it's okay to use; it's such a kickass model.

Yeah, it is a terrific model. And thanks for the information, I just sent him a PM. I might being waiting a while for the reply however... ;)

Didn't figure that --Steve-O-- would be back for a while by looking at his profile, but I guess my summoning powers are greater than I thought. :D

A mod or admin can close this now if they choose. And once again, thanks for a great model. :)

now that i've got a little time on my hand im starting to put everything together to post an update of this model, i just need to hammer out some backwards X values for the engines glows that i havn't had a chance to fix and i'll get it out. now i just have to clean the dust off of PCS and TS...

ok fixed some issues, like swapped engine glows, and debris not working. screeny to show some of the new details. doesn't look like much really, but its enough to make me happy.

This must be put in Blue Planet 2, and maybe Darius could patch this bady into the first chapter of BP as well. :D

<edit> Crap, posted 15 seconds after Darius replyed.

Nice work.  But just a couple of things.  One, it seems to be missing the texture for the antennae on its bottom near the middle.  Also, there are two overlapping faces in that same area.  All is illustrated in the attached screenshot.

and CKid, that was a little more than 15 seconds :p

EDIT: And turret15 has no firepoints

It is somewhat of a work in progress I believe.

And I thought you knew that 129=15.  ;)

Also what about the smooth shading?

Awsome model, dude.  ;)

Detail is not a problem here.
Frame rates in game are 59.9
And.

I`ve got to get a bigger drool bucket!  :D

new upload... i fixed that annoying face overlap, and reworked the antennas so they dont have to use the missing texture and are instead using one of the hull maps that comes in this pack. so if you've already D/L it just swap the POF and change it in the TBM. if not everything is present in this pack.
as for the smooth shading, i have never really played with that much...i have the shaders preset in TS and leave it at that, auto facet, phong shading. i guess i should tinker with that some, 'cuz it produces some ugly texture effects in some spots.

TS only has 3 modes there, so there's not much to it. ;)

I wrote up a pre-PCS2 guide for TS smoothing in here: http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/POF_Constructor_Suite
While it still works the same in TS obviously, PCS2 is now able to correctly read what settings you have - unlike PCS1. :)

What I was saying is that it has smooth shading which makes it looks smooth like in the in-game picture above. Which I do not really care for...
