Title: Clothing texture test (mature content)
Post by: Ace on February 17, 2002, 02:31:09 pm
(http://www.adamantpacified.org/grafix/wclothtexturetest.jpg)

The above is a test with some self done textures on bump mapping, etc. with Poser. Plus it's a scantly clad lass which I'm sure the male population of HLP enjoys. I need to work more on hair effects, as well as getting all of the texture detail in the skin out. (the lighting here blurs up the skin a bit so a lot of detail is lost)

Well it was just a test of textures, I think the leather there came out pretty good and the rust on the metal pads came off good too.

hehe, what I do with poser is get cool models like this one, and export them to 3ds so I can use them in Max :D

yeah i exported a model from poser 3 into lightwave - think i might need tog et poser 4 though the models are of a destinctly higher quality
Title: Clothing texture test (mature content)
Post by: Ace on February 18, 2002, 07:47:17 pm
This is standard Poser 4. The textures are done by me which is where the detail is mostly from.

I know that I need to tweak the hair mesh, clothing positions, etc. but since this was only a test (same as my last renders I posted here) it doesn't matter too much.

Ace, could i get you to work up a few textures for my fs2 mod? just a few fighters.  Need bitmaps with approprate details, instead of relying on capital ship textures.  Help me out?:D  Email me at [email protected] if you're willing.

You really did a good job on the hair and the skin texture.  Can't wait to see the finished product.

Title: Clothing texture test (mature content)
Post by: Ace on February 19, 2002, 12:17:19 am
Well I have to admit that the hair and skin textures aren't entirely mine, I mixed a few from Renderosity together plus edited some photograph parts in. (no, no dirty pictures :p )

The end result was pretty good. On the hair the transmap I did up but the base hair texture is from a horse skin since when a bump map is added it looks fuller. (this was a test so I didn't have bump maps on the skin and hair)

The metal and leather was quickly done up in Correl and PSP respectively.

Looking good, though I'd suggest you try to focus on a GTVA style military uniform or something - it would fit the HLP theme better (not that I didn't do my share of Poser work, I even have a small gallery at Renderosity)... :D

I think you need to work on the metal armlets..... they look odd.  Maybe it's just the bump maps.  A suggestion, if you can.  Try using a metal shader for that texture.

Looks very detailed and well-textured. Some clothing might make it more realistic though. (as Styxx said, a GTVA outfit would be nice) Good work overall.:)

Man, of course it is! The internal drivetrain of the unit is even more beautiful; I could spend hours simply staring at that awesome network of gears, cams and shafts. I would take one of those mining ultrahaulers (or any piece of mechanical machinery) over a thousand stupid girls. :p:D:D Some information can be found at http://www.mining-journal.com/MININGINFO/equipment/megatr.htm . This was a test with stonewashed jeans, plus a bit of a sunburn peeled skin look on the back. The belt has the leather texture from the thong in the last image, it looks really good upclose, but I wanted a more "wallpaper resolution" sort of image. Ace, your woman seems somewhat disproportionate. Her arms and hands are too small, her legs are long although maybe not too long and her ass is too fat. Unless your going for a less-than-perfect-woman look? But other than that:

An0n, if you're that critical of real women... ;)

The camera lens I used for the render is to blame with proportions being a little bit off, but it's not by much, these are anatomically correct.

Poser is primarily for modeling characters (people, animals, monsters) and is excellent for animating them. (yes I could have a movie done up of the lady's hair blowing in the wind or something else)

It's a render I did a while ago, when I was starting to mess around with Poser. Didn't post it here on HLP because I thought it wouldn't fit with the site's audience, but you can find it at my Renderosity gallery if you want. In fact, here's a link to it:

http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=75199&Start=1&Artist=TheRealStyxx&ByArtist=Yes

Note to admins: if it's inappropriate, feel free to remove the link. I just posted because people asked me to. ;)

got my attention

Watch the fingers  when moving it.  Poser has a bad way of making poligons, they will really distort.  look at her left index.

good choice of textures though.

Poser IMO is a bit of a mickey mouse program.

I cant model characters very well but i've already done two and am getting better all the time - if you can model that straight off with polytools and subdees THEN you're damn good :P

Having said that its' nice to have a quick and easy way of getting characters into your work without having to spend most of your time doing them.  My course concentrates on characters more than anything but to be frank it bores me to tears.  I want to do spaceships, not boring people!

Yep, it's a model - Arti didn't make it (at least he didn't claim to), but it's pretty convincing at first!

As for the censoring thing - I don't care, but our hosts might... not sure on the situation as far as soft images go...but for now it's a no no

Now that I look at it again, the stool is not all that well made; there is no stopper or other outcropping at the end of the screw shaft, which means that it is possible to completely remove the seat. Also, a three-legged stool is usually not strong enough to provide support for a human. You need to add in a fourth leg or increase the stool/leg angle of the three existing ones.

BTW is 3dap harder on warez or porn? just curious... (I think warez is cool but porn is stupid:D)

All of the ones in my school have four of them.:D The three-legged ones do hold together but the weight needs to be much better balanced than with a four-legged one, and overall it is easier to fall off.:p (there are a few 3-leg coffee tables in my house and they are a bit weak) What was the angle between the seat and a leg on the stools you used?

well.....they certainly didnt hold me up.  and i'm a 120lb lightweight.

Well since noone else will I'll say it, the jeans shouldn't suck in between her cheeks like that.  Not even latex behaves that way unless it's molded.
Push them together and make at least the upper half of her rump curved on the outside but flat across the cleft there to show the fabric stretching over.

Actually, it just hit me.  Her cheeks seem to start at her lower back!
Where's the poor girl's lumbar?  The cheeks shouldn't start that high up.  Smooth them into her lower pelvic area.

And yes, some girls can fill out jeans like that, I've seen it before, but not to that extent.

Get a generic nude model and use it in a similar pose, you should see a difference.
