I was thinking about getting a new set of controllers for Freespace in the next few months. Two of the items I was looking at getting were:

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with rudder pedals and how they interact with the main stick? How does it work? If I plug both things in, do I just configure the rudder pedals in the options as part of the joystick or is freespace too old to support something like this.
Also this is just an example. If anybody knows of a good HOTAS stick and pedal combo, speak up. I've got a few months and I'm just shopping around.

I'm pretty sure that the rudder pedals act in the way the throttle interacts with the joystick. I remember someone once used a pedal-and-stick setup for FS2 a while ago.
-
Heh pedals.
Man multiplayer truly is dead.
-
Well, I was just curious how they'd work. If I'm paying $100 for a joystick, I doubt I'll spend $150 on pedals that are only used for rotating sideways.
-
Well, if it acts like the x52 HOTAS, you could set it to do anything you want.
-
What else would you do with it? I mean...having lasers fire when I tap my right foot would be cool, but not so much when I remember I spent $150 on it.
The rudder pedals are cool, I just can't justify spending the money.
-
Well, there's always acceleration and deceleration. :nervous:

Throttle on the HOTAS.
...although I could just make it gas/break...:D

Cheap Microsoft Sidewinder that you can abuse until you break it with your arms.
That's my suggestion.
