Not really pertaining toward my forum conduct. On saturday i was just minding my own business in my apartment. And some dude knocks on my door. I looked through the eye hole and knew it was someone i didn't know and just opened the door :hopping: Dumb mistake #1. I was on the phone too, so my friend in washington got to hear my under-enthusiastic no responses to whether or not i liked coffee, snowboarding, if i owned an atv or snowmachine (snowmobile). I was still curious what the hell was up until he says i need to take a look at his pamphlet. Then i was thinking ****!
It had magazine subscriptions out the ass. Then i started to worry. He said he needed the points so he could go to europe with a group of friends doing the subscription thing too. So i thought he was con because his pamphlet was in very bad condition. He starts asking for my information. I gave him a wrong name and wrong phone number. I also convinced the guy i had no address. He really seemed like a con right there. Where the hell is he supposed to send my magazine subscription too?
He then asked if i he could come in and use the table to have a surface to right on. I said no and grabbed him my room mates package which was a box so he could have a hard surface to write on. I then selected pcgamer for an unkown length of time to keep getting the magazine for in my no mail box for $63. He then handed me a my receipt which said aaron miller and all the other incorrect information (my pride stirred then). And then told me to mark down a payment type.
I marked cash. Then he wanted me to pay on the spot. I had no cash. He told me if i have a debit or credit card that i should mark down another payment option. Then i ****ed up when i took out my bank card from my wallet, covering up my real name on the card of course. Bastard found out i have a bank card :ick: So i said my account was empty and that i don't want an overdraft fee of $70. That'd essentially be paying for the subscription twice. Then he tried to convince me that he knew the laws of alaska and said that it'd be 8 days before it registered in my accout. And this was highly questionable (more evidence he might be a con) as i know my bank statements are pretty immediate at the time of my purchases using debit and looking at my bank statements online. I then said my bank account is random sometimes things show up fast, sometimes days later. He then tried to convince me of 8 days, then he said i need to pay him because he's leaving tuesday and this will give him enough points to go to valdez with his group (more evidence he may be a con because he's going to get the money sooner before 8 days to leave, and if i had no money in my bank account for real, then i'd be paying for a magazine subscription twice).
The phone rang luckily to help me out with my ****up of his discovery of my bank card and however he would get money out of my account anyway. I said that i need to take this call. Grabbed the phone and closed door because i took the call. I silently locked the door and went into another room. I was on the phone for a long while.
My room mate came back really pissed off. She was yelling at me about why the door was locked when i was here, and especially grilled me on why some random dude in the hall by our door had her package. I was like oh ****, then proceeded to tell her why he had her box as a writing surface, and that i forgot to get it back (because i did forget). She was also curious who this aaron miller was holding the incomplete receipt for my incomplete transaction. I just smiled really big and she figured out who that individual was. I then proceeded to tell her that it was a magazine salesman and that he had no correct information and that she didn't need to worry about any information given out. She was comforted by this, and forgave me about forgetting about her box. I then asked how she responded to the guy. She said she came in the door and was yelling at the guy wondering why he was close to our door and why he was holding her **** yelling about how he snuck into the apartment and took her stuff, and yelling to him about who the hell was aaron miller since he barely got to tell her that aaron lived there (which probably alarmed her further that someone else may have really snuck into the apartment).
The dude got really freaked out and ran off, and she got her package back. She calmed down and found the situation very funny and also told me that i could have just said no i don't want to purchase magazines instead of being a complete ass hole. She especially liked how the box mistake and her coming back when she did made the situation even better. It didn't come to my mind that i could have just said no, which lead to me thinking that i had to be an ass hole to get rid of this guy. One of the many situations where i accidentally humiliate the crap out of people (i accidentally did it to two of my exes before).
It was a really tasty ass hole accomplishment. That guy got humiliated as all hell. When my room mate asked him who the **** was aaron. Perhaps he actually thought that i was a guy who had broken into the apartment and had made myself at home (some criminals do that) based on the fact that my room mate didn't know who aaron was. And my room mate perhaps thought that she was going to have to beat the ass out of someone no one knows in the apartment. It was a beautiful situation really. But, i could have just said no i don't want to purchase magazine, and close the door, and he'd be on his happy way. But, if he was a con (based on my deductions), then he totally got what he deserved.
Anyhow, that guy is definitely not laying another foot near the apartment complex where i live, and especially he is certainly not going to be able to call either (i gave him the phone number of our neighbors of whom we don't get along with, they also don't know who aaron miller is...or maybe they know an actual aaron miller? Anger and grief will come his way if that sales/con guy calls up my stupid neighbors).
I totally didn't need to be an asshole. I'm definitely sorry if the guy was an honest salesman, but probably wasn't and i am not sorry then. I hate it when this happens. Accidentally humiliating someone and being a total douche to them because i didn't think of another possible way to handle a situation. Or a way i handle a situation that humiliates the person when i didn't intend to do so (what happened with 2 of my exes).
Being an asshole can be fun at times, but not when it overtakes you because you didn't think of everything first :mad2: That's an aspect of it that can piss me off. At least this i got it through my head and have never done it to any of my other gf's.

He didn't get your bank card number, did he? That would really suck. And yes, you could have just said no, but sometimes I feel worse doing that than trying to entertain them for a little while.
-
Asshole move or not, I would have said no, slammed the door in his face, and be done with the affair. I have no patience whatsoever for solicitors, telemarketers, or anyone else who makes a living from annoying the hell out of everyone else.
-
Have you no simpathy? Telemarketers have to eat too.... :D
-
The thing with your money and possible security (everything) is evidence for cons - It could of been alot worse

What are actually the odds that the fair salesmen reads this?

I'd rather starve than lower myself to that level, so no. :p
-
DUDE! I actually am going to Valdez with a bunch of friends. I needed that sale! Thanks a lot, asshole.
-
why the hell do you want to go there, just another desolate ****hole in this ****ed up state :D
hlp alaska anyone?

Then they can get different jobs. Less annoying ones.
/me remembers the multitude of times the phone rang DURING DINNERTIME that just turned out to be a ****ing telemarketer... before the "Do not call" list existed.

Great image! I love it

No he didn't get any piece of information about my debit card. All he found out was that i had one, and nothing else (he didn't even get to look at it, he would have then found out my real name). He never got any information down about my debit card at all, so i'm in the clear for that. I just got done talking to my mom also, she's like me, she's used to transactions getting recorded the same day we do them. Also that guy would have totally found out who i really was had he gotten any information as well as me probably getting screwed financially. That 8 day thing the dude was talking was total bs.
Yes i felt i had to entertain the guy for a while. That was the main premise for incorrect information. I thought that like payment was going to happen sometime later and not the same day. Which then having incorrect information he's not going to get anything.

Concerning telemarketers and salesman i have complete patience for either of them which is some of the moments i get to enjoy being an asshole.

I've been conned out of $7000 before years ago. Hell no do i like unsure sounding situations of salesmen and telemarketers (iwasn't conned by a salesman back then or telemarketer, it was by something different, still makes me cautious of sales people and telemarketers...talk about people who you got to trust and hope you get your stuff).
What are actually the odds that the fair salesmen reads this?
He knows pretty good to stay away from aaron after the experience i gave him. That'd be like more evidence he's a con if he came back again for me. Actual telemarketers and salesman need to eat yes, and cons don't (they should be eaten). Usually entertaining real or fake salespeople i give them my time. If the con salesman comes back again for me, then that's when i start the "i don't want to **** you" routine.

You'd figure that people don't like to be sold stuff during dinner time. Telemarketers can't even figure out that much. The american dinner is usually at some time of 5-7pm for many across my country. Telemarketers should institute a no call during the hours of 5-7pm rule. I bet which ever telemarketers did that would be more appreciated than the others.

Oh yeah..Great jobs are just stocked and waiting around any corner.
No unemployment where you live I guess? All jobs so good that no one needs a second job to support his family?
-
You could always work at McD's. Earn just as much money, and less people would hate you.
-
Taking a car washing job would be more satisfying than a salesman/telemarketer.
-
Panhandlers make more than telemarketers or any other min-wage job. (true fact)
-
Panhandlers may make more, but it's totally dependent on how many sales they may or may not get. In my opinion it may be a good job for others, but not dependable enough for many who just desire a normal consistent wage. Then again, pandhandlers and normal job people are really two different kinds of people. It's obviously two different job mentalities and that i probably won't accept the panhandler job idea.
-
my job pays rather inconsistently, some weeks il rake in a couple grand, others i make nothing. it really sucks sometimes.
-
still working at the bike shop?
-
not really a bike shop, more a contract with retail stores. they changed their rates so im not making as much, dispite the 4 raises ive got thus far. i used to make between $6 and $7 per bike (averaging about 4 or 5 an hour). with the new rates its like between $3 and $6 per bike, so its really hitting hard. theres also a new wal-mart in town, which my company doesn't have a contract with. so the extra competition is killing my cashflow. im actually thinking about switching jobs.

You could also get to work with research on Biological Warfare. It is the same job as working with McD's, but atleast the researchers are honest about what they are doeing.
