Title: How do you add a jump point?
Post by: Renegade Paladin on April 25, 2008, 07:32:31 pm
Jump points are not on the list of objects you can add in FRED, and the help files don't indicate where else they might be.  Help?

Jump nodes were added to the dropdown object menu in the retail 1.2 patch.  Start the retail launcher and run the auto-updater.

Yea, that baffled me at first too.
I just use FRED Open now, so much more functionality.

File Download HTTP error.  Status code: 400
Yeah, that isn't going to help.  The updater's apparently pointing to a dead server.

Then just get Fred Open.  And if all else fails, notepad:

Code: [Select]
#Waypoints

$Jump Node: 3.141593, 1.618034, 0.000000
$Jump Node Name: Capella

Really?  Been a while since I did a fresh install, so I suppose I was too quick to suggest the updater still worked.

In that case, here's a manual download link (http://home.comcast.net/~blueflames/FS2-v12.exe).

Incidentally, I did just recall the old workaround, necessary before the patch....  Right-click in empty space and choose 'Jump Node' from the 'New Object Type' menu, then control-click where you want your node, as normal.
