how exactly does the new ai do things? I mean what do they do?

You mean the -UseNewAI flag? That's an interesting question. Support for it has been removed in more recent builds.

I hope it changes the fact that they never use anything besides the first primary on their ship.

I thought no one had even touched the ai code due to changes there pretty well breaking game balance and therefore backwards-compatibility.
No wait, I seem to recall someone tackling the ai code, but haven't heard anything on that front in a while.
Or have I totally missed some new announcement about updated ai being present? :confused:

the code has been modularized to make it easier to work with. but i don't think anyone has done anything to it since then.

As far as i know the -UseNewAI flag was broken down into smaller pieces and added as options which can now be seen in (and used via) the ai_profiles.tbl.

Was it Fabian? He made some changes to the AI code...
