Would the new 5-1 build work? I am downloading the game over again, and am going to try that once I get everything up and running
I dont really know the answer, and would like to know it

So i got freespace up and running, everything works fine, and I was following the guide to set up multiplayer FS2Net. I am registered and have the missions, and voice (even though I don't think i pu them in the correct place.
Now, when I click on multiplayer, it says that I failed to connect. Any help?
-
How did you install FS2? Turey's installer?
-
I downloaded the Freespace2.dmg
Downloaded the 5-1 trunk build of FS2_open 3.6.10
Downloaded the Media vp's and also the missions and voice vps (where exactly do the missions and the voice vp's go?)
I downloaded the installer 3.0, and then put everything it its proper place myself.
I am using a Mac, running Leopard if that is any help

Mission and voice VPs can go in the main directory. MediaVPs should go in a folder with the name mediavps and be selected by including -mod mediavps in your command line.
Not sure why it's failing to connect though.
-
Yes, ok. All media vp's in the correct spot.
When I go to join a multiplayer game, it will act like it is connecting, but then say it failed to connect. Could a firewall be the issue?

Ok. I got somewhere with the multi.cfg file located in the original Freespace 2 data folder.
I opened it up, and changed the +user_server, and +game_server from their original PXO.net located to fs2netd.game-warden.com
Now I am able to actually "log in" but I get an error message that says Failed to log into Parollax Online. I can actually go and create my own game, but am unable to see any games in the server list.
Is there anything more with this multi.cfg that could be changed?
-
Try to take out the multi.cfg completely (I think it will use default values then).
-
That seems to do the trick. No more error messages. I guess there just aren't any servers.
Hopefully when my buddy and I set up a game, it will show up in there as long has he has his ports forwarded.
