Title: Holy collision errors batman! (3.6.10 Betas)
Post by: MP-Ryan on April 26, 2008, 03:53:49 am
Them crazy Vasudan drivers!

There was also a mysteriously missing Myrmidon (the last Rapier).  I suspect he was also hiding in the Auriga.

As far as I am aware there are no collision problems on either of those ships, and besides - capship collision detection has always sucked. I don't know whether the game uses bounding boxes or radius alone for capship to capship collisions, but it's not exactly something the FSU is in any way able to fix.

Just FRED the mission so the ships don't collide. ;)

The reason why I posted is because this occurred in a Derelict SCP mission and did not occur with the old mediaVPs package.

It seems that a 3.6.10 build plus any mediaVPs package may be the culprit.  Heading for Mantis now.

It's not the Mvps, capital ships will always intersect when they collide anyway.

Because the collision boundaries don't prevent edge overlapping. It's only a collision error if they overlap and nothing happens (no damage, etc.).

In the screenshots case, there should be explosive decompressions, buckling, etc. Try seeing the nose of a Has embeded into the front end of a Hec. Pretty funny. There really isn't an extended "bubble" around these things that prevents that, whicih is good, otherwise you'd be dead in that nebulae mission where you "take off" from a Hec.
