Was watching BBC Breakfast News and apparently Sky One has decided to sink some money into making/remaking/reimagining episodes of Blake's 7.

Quite frankly I'm even happier to see this come back than Dr Who. While Who was always a show I love B7 was in many ways a modern sci-fi show. The show had the kind of continuity (and willingness to kill major characters) that was pretty much unheard of back when all sci-fi shows pushed the reset button at the end of every episode. And if they do a BSG style reimagining on this we're talking about something which could possibly even beat BSG.

So is this a new storyline like Dr. Who or some kind of Lucas-esque retouching (but with new actors)?

Details are sketchy at the moment. All I know is that Sky decided to chuck a load of cash at them. Usually I would have simply kept my fingers crossed but after the success of Dr Who I suspect that they're seeing a huge potential in bringing back the show. So maybe this time they'll actually succeed. :)

Might be interesting, might be utter ****e, I'll hold my judgements for now, but I'll pray they don't screw it up. I loved the original, so they'll have a hard job living up to my expectations...

I have a feeling this started with an offer of money from Sky rather than a pitch by the producers, which is probably a bad way to start. But so long as it doesn't have Russell Davies at the helm I'll be optimistic.

Well an attempt to remake the show in 2003 fell through so it's not like they didn't already have a pitch. :)

If you had to pick a show to remake, you could certainly do worse, but... are we really so short on good new ideas that we have to strip mine all of our old material? B7 didn't leave much room for a spin-off or continuation. That story was ended rather thoroughly (rather awesomely, I might add). BSG is about the only reimagining or remaking that I've seen that has been worth a darn. A nice precedent, but the original BSG left MUCH to be improved on in terms of characterization and story-line. I don't think the same can be said of B7. [/MHO]

This show was WAYyyyyyyyy before my time so i can't really pass comment.
It'd be an interesting experience as long as the plot/dialogue were the same....
Kinda like the B7SCP if you will :D
