As the thread title says...
I'm open to all suggestions....
EDIT: screenies would be nice
-
oooh, perfect!
-
Here's your pre-Aten. (http://web.njit.edu/~pjo3/mekhet.zip) It was actually designed to be a heavy counterpart (Leviathan : Fenris :: Mekhet : Aten) but it can pass as a predecessor if you like.
It has generic textures as well as HoL and PVN reskins, and Fourteen-Year-War-era tables available too.
-
this one fits wonderfully... thank you Galemp!
-
Please give us more galemp. PLEASE.
-
GTC Tyr ?
-
GTC Vidar
The Tyr looks considerable more high-tech than the Fenris, mostly due to curvy-ness.
-
Please give us more galemp. PLEASE.
Feh. I don't like doing Terran designs. It feels too much like my day job.
-
Anyone...? Please? :(
-
GTC Tyr ?
I've got the Tyr ... it is not what I'm looking for
I totally agree with Droid803 on that point
GTC Vidar
the names says nothing to me.... can you post a screenshot?
@Galemp:
The rextures are VERY nice - you deserve more than one extra bosh beer for them... I'm taking the PVN, the HOL and the neutral blue variant for the campaigns I need tthat cruiser
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/kc1991/VIDAR.jpg)
Its in INFA. I could pack it up separately if you want.
-
I just made a sort of deimos-textures reskin of it today... but the vidar just doesn't work... :blah:
-
What do you mean "just doesn't work"?
-
It doesn't quite fit in, y'know? Sorta like... The look of a hathepsut (spelling is bad) doesn't quite fit in with FS1 Vasudan ships.
-
Of course Deimos textures don't fit. That's why you keep the Fenris-like tiles.
Actually, the Hatshepsut looks fine next to the Aten...
-
No, i mean just the... look, the shape, the over layout of it's stuff... it's not early terrans...
-
Your call...
-
I'll toss you the model if you like, but it will require work.
Heavy cruiser for ship-to-ship combat, before the age of the bomber. Close cousin or predecessor of the Leviathan/Fenris duo, too.
-
needs HTLing
-
I dunno. Tis not bad for the role it's meant to play. Put it in a lineup with a Fenris and a Ticonderoga and it wouldn't look out of place.
-
I have made a model of something like a Fenris-MK2. It's untextured, and pretty much just a mesh right now.
-
I already got the orginal model which was turned into the Vidar (and I've got those INFA textures) ... and no I did not consider it a good candidate...
@ ngtm1r:
a nice model but it is not quite what I'm looking for ... it should be more an allrounder
@ShadowGorrath:
I'm no modeler myself - but a picture cannot hurt, can it?
-
Nope :D
-
Here it is. But before you start commenting on how bad it is, note that it's still unfinished. And I doubt I will finish it.

-
like the Tyr this is close to what I'm looking for...
-
How can you say that's not good? :eek2:
-
Me? It doesn't look the way that I intended. Unless I add a bit more detail that I didn't yet.
-
It's not triangulated.. it probably has a poly count closer to 3500
-
Needs a different name. Otherwise I give it 2 thumbs up for this stage of the modeling process. :yes2::)
-
I just like the general design. It looks exactly what a next-generation strike cruiser would look like.
-
It doesn't look pre-fenris. Looks definitively post-fenris.
-
Yeah, it's a good ship for post-Capella campaigns. I'd love to see it finished.
For pre-Great War though, that won't work.
-
Try the GTC Cretheus that Axem made a while back... it's about the same size as a Satis, and has about the same number of turrets
-
The Cretheus looks like a mini-Aeolus, however.
-
As far as I know, the Cretheus isn't supposed to serve as cruiser. It's more like a mobile defense platform.
Me likes the post-Fenris!!! :D
-

Don't you have something for this? I recall it from ETF...sort of a stripped-down Fenris/Levi.
-
still, someone REALLY should pof it and stuff.
-
Pof what? My Fenris MK2 ? If so then I guess I need to finish it ( add the detail that I wanted ).
-
It needs more work but I think it looks good and old looking so far.
There is another body style I could work with. (Above main ship)
-
I'm failing to see how that resembles the slab-sided and straight-edged early Terran design.
-
looks sorta like a carrack cruiser from SW.
-
Don't you have something for this? I recall it from ETF...sort of a stripped-down Fenris/Levi.
The Peleus you mean? Sure, that could work, but it has a couple of heirarchy issues with the two multipart turrets which I've never been able to get anyone to fix.
-
@Hades:
any name for that ship ? and are you going to finish it some day?
@Mad Bomber:
an image if you don't mind?
ps. I'll be off until friday ... hope you find a nice solution for a pre-Fenris in the mean time ...
-
If you want it I will give you the honors of naming it. :) I will have to learn texturing in order to finish it.
-
well it ain't too urgent
I would be eager to see it textured
I would name any pre-fenris GTC Garmr....
Garmr (Norse mythology) on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garmr)
ps. InternetCafes are a nice invention :)
-
For the Fenris why not just use that ship in the TVWP demo?? Whatever it's called, some frigate or other.
-
The Ticonderoga. It looks too ugly to be a pre-Fenris.
-
It goes by Atropos in TVWP.
-
Same model though
-
ya, a pre-fenris would have to be smaller, and more like a brick than a warship sorta.
-
I still don't understand what's wrong with the Tyr ?
-
ya, a pre-fenris would have to be smaller, and more like a brick than a warship sorta.
Why would it have to be smaller? Some of the first tanks in WW1 were huge and had like 10+ guys in them. By WW2, tanks were smaller, more effective and had say 3-5 guys tops.
Just because the Atropos is larger doesn't mean it's better. A ship can be larger and more weakly armed and armoured, and then it's followed by smaller ships which are more efficient with comparable or better weapons which take up less space, less massive engines, etcetera and so on.
-
ah well. Anyway, the Tyr just really doesn't fit in. it's hard to explain. it's sorta like... GAH!!!
-
It looks high tech, the Tyr does. Its got nice curvy areas.
-
I think that Pre-Aten looks great.
Not alot of good Vasudan ships especially Pre-Aten. :)
Could someone put this up on Freespacemods.net
-
The Tyr ? Curvy ? Are we talking about the same model ?
-
The INFA Tyr?
-
Hades,
any progress?
-
I'd honestly prefer the Warmonger be finished. That thing was nice. It's the only thing that looks like a good fenris upgrade, the just doesn't seem to fit with anything...
-
Well, I have a reskinned EAC Aesacus (INFR1) with Fenris tiling...
Certainly does not look "new". It looks like several bricks slapped together.
-
sounds intriguing, actually. lemme see a screen please.
-
It doesn't look pretty...

-
Hades,
any progress?
Not really because I have had like 4 other models I was working on but I am almost done with modeling.
-
that's actually ok... surprising, for an INFR1 model.
@Hades: Yippe!
-
that's actually ok... surprising, for an INFR1 model.
Il y a un model d'Aesacus qui est high poly.
-

Yea, but it's not released, is it?
-
La, c'est vrai.
-
The Ticonderoga makes sense as a pre-Fenris. Just because it's bigger doesn't mean a thing.
It has similar construction lines as the Fenris.
If it's ugly, then a week alone with a moderately skilled modeler would do it wonders.

There was a HTL Tico done by Woo. It might be included in INFASA.
-
Well, until INFSCP and INFASA come out, the HTL Aesacus and HTL Ticonderoga aren't available... >.>
-
INFASA is due this summer (which probably means late fall... :P), but INFSCP is not due for a few years at least :(
-
Hey they are doing better than BWO they come out in the next century. :P
-
Hey they are doing better than BWO they come out in the next century. :P
Who are doing better than MT, which comes out in the next few million centuries. :doubt:
-
Aren't you with MT ? If so, then I got only 3 words to you : 1.GET 2.TO 3.WORK !
-
they can't, it has degraded into an orginizational nightmare. sorta like the bush administration.
-
I guess it's time for me to save the day. Now if only I could get access to MT internal forums... Which isn't possible for me, according to my mind.
-

I had an idea to try and get MT worked out and stuff, but Cobra refused to help.
-
Snail, please, don't blame particulars at all, don't blame anyone if you can help it. Remember that thing between you and mobius?
-
Can't you try to continue to work on it alone? This way: work is continued; others might also continue to work on it/help you if they see that someone works, despite the fact that works alone. And besides, MT is something people want to see done sometime before the 'End of the World TM'.
Besides, I'm working on the Ancient-Shivan war mod mostly alone ( with help from Flaming_Sword now and then :) ). That's not stopping me. And though progress is kinda slow until I get more people to help, there still is progress. Something that, no offense to the MT team, doesn't seem to exist ...
-
Remember that thing between you and mobius?
That was grinding on for ages.
Besides, I'm not blaming him, just saying how everything wasn't working out. Guess in that context it looked like I was singling him out.
-
I tend to forget things like that and strenghten relationships.
MT should accept new team members and find a better way to organize the work, IMO.
INFA SA will be released during summer simply because both me and Snail are going to face important exams. Edivad will have some spare time to work but he can't fully replace us.
-
I tend to forget things like that and strenghten relationships.
I tend to send cringe worthy apology PMs...
(that's not to say what I write in them isn't true)
MT should accept new team members and find a better way to organize the work, IMO.
Ten new team members won't help, not without proper organization. In fact, more team members would worsen the situation: There'd be ten more versions of every mission. Right now all the missions are scattered everywhere in Internal, in threads with names like "Guess what?"
-
Then re-organise. Rebuild the team, or just give proper rules for the team. Seems simple, but it isn't, I know. But still- if you reorganise, it'll allow you to work more easily.
-
I was thinking of even asking Styxx to make separate subforums for missions, modding, effects, etc.
-
Or just ask everyone to post the updated missions in one place, but with dates in their filename ?
-
Which is the most advanced? Dates mean nothing. I could've made a mission yesterday which was worse than the one DarkShadow- created 7 months ago.
-
Oh, if ShadowWolf_IH arrived everything would work.
