Title: Introduction (Original Tester)
Post by: Copasetic on May 01, 2008, 12:29:28 am
Thought I'd introduce myself and mention I was one of the original testers back during the Interplay days. After some drinks I decided to search for FS2 and found you guys and the open source;  few minutes of installing 3.6.9 and I was strolling down memory lane. I'll never forget playing FreeSpace1 while I was at Activision thinking to myself what a great game that was. Later on when I moved to Interplay one of my first projects was FS2 and I lived and breathed it for a good 6 months; to the point I left good ol' California and headed to Volition in Champagne IL.; just to make sure it launched properly. It's funny after playing just a few missions how advanced and ahead of it's time FS2 was.  Hah -  One of the best memories from back then was when we surprised Jim Boone with the "tooledworkedowned" easter egg. BTW he was a huge Rage Against the Machine fan.. Probably still is....

Anyways - Thanks and keep doing what you guys are doing!

Here's a factoid - FS2 shipped and did not work with windows 95 out of the box. Compatibility in Irvine (Interplay) never tested it on a 95 box.

First and foremost:

:welcomesilver:

Wow.  An original tester.

Have you tried playing FS2_Open with the MediaVPs?  It looks amazing.

Yes very cool -

Oddly enough it's been an Interplay day for me... They still have thier doors somewhat open and from selling the fallout rights they have some doe.. Maybe an mmo version since they still have licensing rights?  MAKE FS3!!! Hopefully the rights didn't get hammered and lost FS rights with THQ/Volition... http://www.interplay.com (http://www.interplay.com)

Impossible! Your kind is suppose to be extincted! Now we just need one of the developers to show up and say a word or two.

Anyways, welcome to the forums! Please share with us your infinite wisdom of beta testing FS1/FS2.

Heh, you missed DaveB showing up a few years ago and being the cause of the 'Shadow Build' by Bobboau, the entire forum has been suffering from a mild form of torture since it was removed ;)

Welcome aboard, and nice to see an old-hand reappearing :)

I bet it was. And I still oppose multiple welcome beams directed at one person. Not that I have anything against new people. On the contrary. Welcome aboard on my behalf as well, Copasectic. But the beams are like Rickrolls. Too many within a short period of time equals not good.

Yep I know :(

I was so upset - finally got it fixed after a year of owning it and dying to know what happened after Fs1.

Wow, someone who took part in the development.  Cool.  So was there any awesomeness that got taken out of the release?
