We have a star trek mod, star wars mod, B5 mod, BSG mod... Why not put them together? Here is my idea:
almost all of the above universes have a 'precursor' race. Freespace has the Shivans, B5 the Shadows, Star wars the Vong... What if there was some mega race that created them all as protectors, experiments, or children? Something that created vorlons, species 8472, all of the ancient races we have come to know.
What if the campaign begins this way: Races like the federation(Star trek) Republic(Star wars) Earth alliance(B5) and Colonials pre-cylon war(BSG) Were allied, and in some kind of war between them and the Star wars empire, BSG cylons, Star Trek dominion... etc.
Then later like we learned about the shivans we get to fight varied Shivan fighters, shadow battlecrabs, and other ships? Kind of like that?
Just some random idea. Might be fun? ;)

This sounds like the kind of stories I wrote as a kid! Big, splashy crossovers.

Ship limit will kill this, sadly.
Unless you're only going to have like, one or two ships per faction, which would suck.

Well, if anybody could help me combine the mods(I don't need all the ships from every one) then I would gladly do ALL the FRED work. I dream about this campaign every day, so alot is already in my head.

Didn't inferno get like 200 ships?

Ok, so 250 ships would be more then needed! How do you combine mods anyway? Only certain ships from each one?
I think it would be fun!

Do you really want to use that build?
Apart from the not-working multiplayer there is no good reason not to use an Inferno build.

Combining universes into 1 is a bad idea. Everyone will change the strength of ships to their favoured faction. I would probably change it to the GTVA, so that it destroys everything. It's impossible to have true universe crossovers because of their difference. That's what I learned myself after making the FS vs SW video :doubt:

Why not just balance the power of each faction? It's not realistic but it makes for fair gameplay

Anyway I ran into problems just using 5 of each Cap ship and fighters for diff races. I constantly had to delete additions I made for the "All Mod" (an abandoned project I still have the old folder for - where I found proto-Gigas and those old inf ships BTW) :D
It's a fun idea, but totally ridiculous. Now I only ressurect it in Open for screenies of particular scenes for my crossover fanfiction.
Not only will you run into ship limits (Trek alone can easily fill up the total amount), but what kind of story would be make with a pittiance of each type ship?
More like a bunch of one shot parodies would be workable I think (think of JAD or that other one)... Where story isn't so important.
Now if only I can figure out how to do those fracking Beam Sabers!!! :P

Well hey, brawl crossed all of Nintendos franchises into one, and even solid snake and sonic from other companies, and it worked out all right.

Well hey, brawl crossed all of Nintendos franchises into one, and even solid snake and sonic from other companies, and it worked out all right.
Yes, but that only works because the game doesn't have any serious story to tell. As soon as that becomes the case, like for most FS2 campaigns, mixing different universes quickly becomes silly IMO. Perhaps it would be fun to use in a Just Another Day- like campaign but I really don't see it working otherwise.

I had an idea like this, myself, and I rapidly came to the conclusion that pitting entire universes against one another was both grandiose and unworkable.
Pitting bits of those universes (i.e. a couple of errant battlegroups with limited supplies) against one another, however, is quite doable in a balanced fashion, as long as none of the resulting campaign is intended to affect their home universes.

How did you put the ships Together? Can you show me how please? Not EVERY ship from EVERY mod would have to be used.
The biggest problem I can think of would be ship scales.
I have alot of the possible campaign I have in mind written out, I just need the ships.

This will not work now like it did then.
Not to mention the half dozen or so user ships added like Inferno's Warlock super carrier, SOC Segomo, Strat's Archangel, Saga's Vesuvius etc...
battle had like 25 caps per side and 50 fighters to total 150 craft in that battle. That one veritech you can see in the radar is listed as mission craft #132...
Believe it or not those screens were taken on a PentiumII 400mhz with a 32mb ATI all-in-wonder card.

Screw universes not mixing well, that looks great! Why wouldn't it work now, though?
