Title: SF Gorgon?
Post by: colecampbell666 on May 10, 2008, 04:53:46 pm
...and others I don't think are supposed to be there.

We took out all of the FS2-specific ships when we released version 3.0.  Since that made a lot of ships.tbl slots available, we thought we'd use the opportunity to add a bunch of FS1 mods that might be useful for people designing FS1-era campaigns.

Isn't the Gorgon like the epitome of death? A bit overkill for FS1?

It was originally an FS1 mod, so I don't see how.

Speaking of the ships from that site, do you have the skins for the Daedalus? The links are dead.

Look for the #medical ships.

That really needs to be updated for the HTL Faustus...

Not really IMO. It's really big so you can shoot it down easily, unless you give it stupid stats, in which case it just looks silly twirling around with such a large target profile. The Dragon is harder to kill mostly.

I just did that five minutes ago. :)
I'll upload later (complete with edited shine and glow maps)

The skin works, just needs to be reapplied.

In INFA you can still handle it in one on one/two dogfights. The weapons there are closer to FS1 so I guess the Gorgon isn't overkill in a FA1 environment as long as you don't exaggerate using it. Small and rare wings of 3 Gorgons are fine, for me.

Dragons are far harder to kill than Gorgons, even in INFA. The Gorgon is just too slow and big.

Fortunately. It would have been much more dangerous had it been smaller.

Really it's slightly more effective than a Mara IMO.

I don't know if I can agree with that statement, I see them as two fighters with different purposes.

It's got an above average armament, but isn't remarkably fast and is really big.

So INFR1 overrates it?

Even in INFR1 it sucked.

Yeah, but the tech description makes it sound like it will break your cheekbone with a tiny hammer, and then kill you.

Then it's wrong.

Its a Shivan Erinyes, then?
Good firepower, decent shields, big, and not that fast?

ANd something that, even though it replaced something that came beforre it, pilots stuck with the old thing.  :doubt:
