Last chance to for items to go into the Campign Pack v1.1 on TBP DVD
If you can't make it, don't sweat it (there will be other campaign packs down the road) but if you have something you would like to include on the DVD, get it to me ASAP.
I will NOT recompile the whole DVD just for a mission or two, I mean any major campaign additions or updates.
Hats to all Fredders everwhere!
hip63 :p

Are you going to be accepting single missions?
-
yes, if it is enough of them to warranty it.
1 or 2? probably not
5 or so? hmm, maybe
around 10 or more? then most definitely yes
hip63 :p
-
well, FH2261 wont be finished of course (about 50% missing and the rest is glitchy) but I will try to get finish the updating of 2259 and 2260 to make the deadline.
-
Are the old R1 and R2 single missions in this?
-
They need updating before they are included.
-
Hi, hip63, where do you intend to upload the campaign pack ? Can you also upload it to rapidshare ? Because I can't download from filefront.
-
you are not actually trying to force me into release something, are you?
-
It would be nice if someone could fix the Janis Campaign, from the other thread it sounds like it just needs a little TLC
I'm willing to postpone the DVD release for a short time, if presented with a good enough reason to delay it's release (like a major update or new campaign or an updated Janus for example).
And yeah, I can do some rapidshare links :)
I just want to make the DVD as perfect and complete as possible, TBP deserves nothing less! :pimp:

Hi, hip63
Why don't you wait for the release of Fortune Hunter 2261 ? I am also making a campaign on a Centauri ship and I've done 3 missions so far :), still a lot of works ahead.
-
Drums of War III is coming down the line as well....
I'm waiting for some feedback - but I'm sure I could hand it into beta testing at the end of next week perhaps
-
I'm waiting for some feedback
Yeah sorry mate. That mission is quite hard. I've tried a few times to finish it. I think I'll have to turn invincibility on.
-
like hip always says there will be more campaign packs
-
OK, I've got the updated Dark Children and Fortune Hunter campaign files and I've included 3 single missions, Call of the Siren, Nightmare and Thirdspace. So is there anything else anyone wants to see added to the Campaign Pack for TBP DVD before it goes final? (or to the DVD in general) You still have about a week (my friend how helps me with uploading is on vacation until next week).

I have THE LONG RUN (7 missions) currently in bug-testing and English-correcting. Just don't know if we can make it in time.
-
Just keep me informed, I can delay a day or three if you need a little more time.
hip63 :p
-
Hi! I make the Thirdspace mission... that was only a "test mission", you dont have to include it...
Because now I'm doing a "Thirdspace" Campaing... but is not finish yet
I'm also doing an "End Game" mission (it's a looooong mission...almost finish).
-
I will keep the "test mission" and label it "DEMO" ;)
good luck on the campaign! look forward to adding to a future campaign pack
hip63 :p
-
Sure you want half finished missions on your DVD?
-
be sure what you submit works, people!
Darkmaster, I doubt The long run will be on the DVD. I can already tell you got much to fix. Very much. Sorry :sigh:

Ok no problem. Please PM me about the bugs, thanks.
I don't intend to let some buggy things go to the DVD, so don't worry. If we can make it in time, it's good. But the most important thing is the quality of the stuff.
-
it's worse. Check your PMs. Feel free to flame me.
-
According to Vid's suggestion I'll put "The long run" on hold for unlimited time. At least until someone appears and help me tell the right story and until my FRED skill has improved a lot.
-
I wouldn't put it on hold. Your mission designing skills won't improve unless you work on missions. Maybe continue to work on this with a view to having it included in a future campaign pack.
-
The problem is mostly on the story-telling aspect. For the FRED I can improve my skill from time to time but there is no hope to improve my ability on telling a story. As VID said, my writing is really very bad, for now I can only correct the bugs but not the plot holes. I'll come back to it later.
-
these newbies always start with a far to ambitious project which ends up buggy and then forget about it.
CHECK YOUR PMS, MAN!
I am surprised you just didn't noticed what was between the lines. Especially in the upper part.
If you discover something doesn't work like you want to, you dont give up! Rule1 of fredding!
You get yourself somebody to help! Campaigns are huge projects.
-
Darkmaster, I used to create campaigns for pen&paper games when I was younger. I could give you some storytelling pointers if you'd like. I have a pretty good record, I held a 600 year spanning campaign and my unforgiving players never managed to find a story hole.
-
Funnily enough that's where I learned my mission designing skills too.
And my paranoia about methods enterprising players can come up with to break your game. :D
-
Vampires: The Masquerade and Forgotten Realms. Best years of my life. If only those devious players didn't pull the rug from under my feet so often..
-
it was DasSchwarzeAuge with me, also Pen&Paper :)
-
Should things be in the form of a .vp or just .fs2 files? For those who want to know.
-
VPs are good. They stop people accidentally modifying the mission you spent all that time setting up perfectly. If they want to see the mission in the editor they still can, but they can't save it back to the vp and corrupt it.
-
not to mention that it's much more newbie friendly.
-
A very very important attribute, said the newbie
-
OK basically times up on the DVD, if you want it on the disc, get it to me ASAP.

I would say, if someone can load the mission in the editor, he is probably able to set up a mod folder and play with the edited missions (like I HAD to do with a mission in FH 2260, which otherwise didnt work for me).
-
If you find a bug with a campaign the best course of action is to contact the campaign author.
-
that would definitly be nice, yes :ick:
zero days, he? *wanna download*

You'd be surprised how often we have to deal with problems caused by someone saving their own files back into a VP.

what a shame the TBP training won't make it in time
