1. Choose the ship that can be equipped with two different primaries.
2. Select the disruptor cannon as your other primary.
3. Scan the freighter and stay close to it. Order your wingmen to protect the shuttle.
4. Once it turns red, quickly disable the freighter, then shoot down a couple of raider fighters.
5. Once you somewhat know which ship is da bomb, scan it, disable it (with your disruptors) and get the **** away from it before it explodes.

I'd give more detailed instructions but I currently don't have TBP installed and it has been a while since I've even played it. But I agree. This mission is a *****.

Yes this mission requires you to be in two places at the same time. That is quite a problem.  :wtf:

Hi,

There is a trick to win this mission: at the beginning you can search for the bombs and destroy them first (when they are not activated yet)  :D

Sounds to me like you guys are getting two (admittedly similar) missions mixed up.

Spoiler:
Nobody Expects = Escort a shuttle to Altair station, Zephyrs in a freighter, kamikazi shuttle carrying a bomb.

Slipping the Noose = Runaway Olympus cruiser headed for jumpgate, Runaway GOD sat fires at station.

Ok you're right, I was talking about Nobody Expects.

But there is also a trick for Slipping the Noose : at the beginning, you can destroy all missile launchers of the GOD SAT  :D, after that you'll have enough time to deal with the other tasks.

Cheating doesn't get you anywhere. Except maybe the next mission.

You consider this cheating ? Well, our viewpoints are different. To me, cheating is when you modify the mission, use cheat code or hack the game engine. In this mission you give me the right to destroy the missiles first, so I destroyed them "officially"  :D.

Hmm. Oops? I, once again, read too fast and mainly picked up the words "pod", "BOOOOM" and "fail".

Right. But that mission also requires some preemptive measures. A good method is to use your wingmen to "disable" the Olympus and go for the GOD sat yourself.

Thank you all for helping.
This Mission is very tricky.
I Try later again @ home ;)

Greetings Peter

/edit: The Trick destroying the Missile Launcher first on GOD Satellite works properly. The Station is still in one Peace and the Mission won. Thanks a lot to all Peoples for help.

Guardian makes the ship invulnerable but not its sub-systems. In this case he just blown up the missile launchers, not the GOD SAT.

Ship-Guardian does. Ship-Subsys-Guardian-Threshold can make a subsystem safe too.

I suspect Vidmaster meant that he uses both.

:nervous: he can read my mind :nervous:

when creating a mission, be sure to eliminate everything the player could do to screw it up. Always supsect your players to be evil. They will sit down in front of their computers and say to themselves now I am gonna find glitches in your campaign, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: ! The player equals the devil himself, you got it?
They will love to tell you what's bad in your campaign instead of what's good

remember the Capella does not Nova glitch in FS2 kara? I remember you had to disable a specific ship.

I say thank you Devil   :pimp:
It can be very frustrating if you hang always in one Mission. Then so tips are very helpful. And in fact increases the fun in the Game. Also i detected triggers in any missions. In Slipping ne noose - when i don't approach the psi cops i can blow up in all silence this Missile Batteries of GOD-SAT.

so sorry for my bad English but i want to support my helper. Now i go to scan this Asteroid Raider Base ;)))

Greetings Peter

Preaching to the converted Vid. :D

My missions tend to have as many SEXPs devoted to unlikely player actions as the most likely path or two through the mission simply because I know that if I don't someone will break my mission sooner or later. I consider it a good FREDding practice to assume that people will deliberately try to break your missions, if only cause as in the case you mention the results can be quite spectacular if you don't. :D

well the two BtrL missions you released so far are an impressive example to that  :)

Only the second mission (and the training mission) is actually mine. Axem's responsible for the first one but he has a similar philosophy when it comes to mission designs. :)

Actually I purposefully allowed it. To make GOD invincible would have been easy, but I wanted to allow people who needed to cheat in order to progress to do just that.

That could be the truth or a lie. I'll let you all decide individually ;).

I agree. The most important thing in a game is the game-play aspect, which means how much fun the player will have while playing that game. There is no fun not to be able to complete the game, and I'm sure many people will stop playing TBP just because they can't win a hard mission.
Even great game companies add cheat code to their games to avoid making the players mad, so there is nothing wrong to allow some cheats in your game.

TheBabylonProject will let you skip a mission if you die five times in a row  :)

I never accepts it. You don't know what has happened in the last mission if you skip it. Also, what's the point to skip  half of the campaign ?

If anyone ever has to use the five death skip I feel I've failed as a mission designer. Especially since in reality I believe most people become frustrated and give up even before reaching five deaths.

Very interesting discusson here.
Now i think the fredders are known her missions blind. Is easier to win an mission if you created it self as the Player there not know the intention behind the missions.

In fact is easier to win for you as for us players ;) This is always a problem of the Dev's there build a Game.
To make any Objects invulnerable for player action i disagree. Its a tactic - not cheating.

Greetings
Peter
