Title: Indiana Jones 4
Post by: Colonol Dekker on May 18, 2008, 07:07:47 pm
I dunno if anyone has seen it. I haven't yet, but as the beeb has recently been showing the originals and the ads have started showing over here; i thought i'd get some opinions / expectations of it.
Beforehand though i don't like the look of it as much as i love the first three, the ads seem to cgi-heavy. I know Harrison Ford is about 60 something now but if Rambo can do it all with minor computer effects so should Indy

Where was the CGI in the trailer? I saw some but most of it looked like good old fashioned Indy.

Seconded.  Most of it looked like good ol' fashioned mechanical effects.

Harrison Ford is 65 (IIRC) and yeah! If Stallone can do it, so can Harrison. It looks okay, but to be honest this could turn out like the Star Trek movies, 1st was good, second sucked, third was good, fourth sucked etc. Same here with Indy films, Raiders was superb! I thought Temple of Doom was a load of donkey bollocks! The Last Crusade was cool!

The Last Crusade was my fave

Last Crusade was my fave, but then I fell deeply and eternally in love with Karen Allen. Raiders FTW.

Indy 4. Hmm. Looks interesting, but it just won't be the same without Nazis. Let's just hope this (http://entertainment.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/05/15/166219&from=rss) isn't accurate.

This is one of the few movies where the previews looked good, or perhaps more correctly, made it obvious that they hadn't just assembled the best shots from the movie because there was obviously stuff you hadn't seen.

But that may have just been hearing the theme again talking.

Well isn't it your lucky day, she's reprising her role in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.... Should be good!

Any woman who can drink a Sherpa under the table...............well, what more can I say!  :pimp:

And the best thing about Crusade was Sean Connery!

I quite liked the scene with the swordsman who just got shot. Especially when they reprised it in Temple of Doom. :D

It kind of loses it's charm when you find out they filmed it because Harrison Ford was suffering a bout of dysentery that'd kill a donkey.

Steve might keep him sensible storywise. But i feel it's gonna be cgi heavy as mentioned elsewhere.

Apologies for the double post. . .but i just had a thought, since Indy drank from the holy grail does that make him invincible or just long-lasting, like his dad?

15-20 years on and he's still swinging from rafters with his whip and beating people up left and right. That ain't long-lasting for you?!

Funnily enough I was thinking that myself the other day, something along the lines of the Green Mile?

And he named himself Indiana, after the dog, it's better than Henry Jones Jr I guess!

Saw it. Went in with the expectations that it would be absolutely terrible and maybe even tarnish my opinion of the other three, but turned out to be a pretty good movie. It's different from the other three, but still sort of the same, if that makes any sense. :D

Watched it yesterday... Not as good as the other ones, but still pretty good.

Spoiler:
I didn't like how they through in some of the stupid humor at some points (moles/hamsters/whatevers jumping around at the Nevada scene) and some parts were just stupid. Especially the part where he hides in the refrigerator to escape a nuclear blast. That entire part was completely unnecessary. The film was ok throughout, but I feel that at the end, they just lost it. The whole ending part was far too CGI heavy and a little too random for my tastes. Instead of aliens they should have gone for something less radical, like the shroud of Jesus or some ****. Ending a movie with a wedding was just ****stick.
