Here, then, is the definitive list of what's going into the Assets media VP: upgraded models and textures. This replaces the old 'HTL Status' and 'Normal Maps' threads. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29228.0.html)
NOTE: Due to the relatively common occurrence of two people unknowingly working on the same ship, we request that rather than keep it as a surprise, an announcement thread of some sort be made ASAP. This is ESPECIALLY encouraged for ships of corvette or above scales due to the huge amount of work involved in their construction. This is not intended to discourage anyone from upgrading whichever ship they please (though ships that do not already have upgraded versions are most definitely preferred!), but merely to try and reduce accidental doubling up. Thanks and happy greebling!
It's already assumed that all textures have basic shine and glow maps. It's broken down by race and class so you can see at a glance what's been finished to an acceptable standard, what's in progress or partially completed, and what's not been touched and/or is not up to standard. If you're looking for something to do, pick one that nobody's working on yet. FS1 and FS2 ships are seperated by a space.
- NAME: A link to the development thread. Post screenshots, comments, and updates specific to that ship there. The mods will monitor the forum and add links and update the list appropriately.
- MESH: A high-poly mesh, with smoother curves and more details. Fighters and bombers may include cockpit models.
- GLOWPOINTS: An old or new model may have glowpoints on it. Yellow indicates there are no glowpoints, but it might be fine without them.
- UV MAP: Having your mesh use as few textures as possible is more important than adding detail. Some older high-poly models (such as the Orion) need to be baked, and all new ones should.
- TEXTURES: The original 256x256 8-bit PCX textures can be made larger and more detailed, with carefully designed glow and shine maps to match. Even an old model can look better with sharper, cleaner and better maps.
- NORMAL MAP: This new functionality greatly improves the appearance of every texture. While not officially supported it's rapidly becoming an essential upgrade.

- NAME: Not all weapons are represented, as some are clones (AAAf and AAAh), some can share the same effect (Fusion Mortar and Vasudan Flux), and some are simply not used (Targeting Laser.)
- TECH: Whether a high-poly loadout model or interface art exists. Only for player weapons.
- FX: Whether a new weapon effect set has been made, or if an upgraded in-game model exists (for missiles.)

Nice work on the list. :)
I've corrected some things I can remember off the top of my head, but I think it would be a good idea to remove aspects that don't actually apply to the object in question. For example - glowpoints for asteroids will always remain red and look unfinished.
About 90% or so of Shivan and Vasudan craft won't need glowpoints, and Shivan weapons don't need tech models. ;)

Actually re: glowpoints for asteroids. I wanted to add some floating glowpoints that use the motion debris animation to supplement the existing little fragments. That's why I left it red and not yellow.
As for Vasudan and Shivan glowpoints... well, I think there's possibilities there. The Lucifer has them, and so should the Anubis. So long as we're consistent we might get some nice effects.
Most of all I'd really like to make sure all the ships are linked to their own threads so non-mods can address them.

All FS1-era ships and weapons have been moved to the status thread in the subforum.

I updated the Faustus glowpoints to Yellow.
I updated the TAC 1 to Yellow on the Mesh and UVMap.
It has LOD issues, especially in terms of smooth transition of detail reduction, and a bad UV Shift after LOD0.
