Title: S-Video to Scart -- GeForce problem...
Post by: Colonol Dekker on May 29, 2008, 08:27:19 pm
Hello again people!

I recently geared myself towards graphic work recreationally. Also Supreme commander is playing no small part in this..

I've got two GEForce 8600 GS cards in my rig. specs found here >http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/nvidia_8600gs/ (http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/nvidia_8600gs/) and i bought an S video - Scart cable from a local high street retailer (Comet for the curious) exact details found here.. http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=1739 (http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=1739) only thing is, The S-Vid doesn't fit either of my Cards for dsome god unknown reason....

The connectors appear to marry but i'm getting resistance when i try and plug it in.

I've a normal run of the mill Wharfdale telly with Two scart sockets and a Scart muylti adaptor, the Scart end isn't the problem. The S-Video is.. :(

Any ideas /advice?

my geforce came with a little svideo to rca connector then i bought a svideo to scart (but it also had rca and audio imputs)
i think i got it from the 99p shop

You have a cable with 4-pin S-Video. You probably have a 7-pin or 9-pin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svideo#General) socket on your GeForce.

Solution: Buy a new cable.

@ ColeCampbell  monster rocks, pins are all straight.
@Davros, 4 pins, it's the exact one i linked to.
@BloodEagle, i'm currently kicking myself, it was an impulse buy and i had no idea prior to reading this that there was more than one type of s-video connection.
I've chucked my reciept/proof of purchase. :nervous:
Any recommended sites Where i could buy one that works?
My cards are both 9 pin.
Cheers again.

Got no cables i bought an ex electronic sports world cup comp from packard bell. "Ipower 8620." It was a demo machine so it was brand new just not boxed.
