Title: Dilgar Era Mod?

Just wondering if there would be any iterest in a MOD of the Dilgar war.

It is not something i will ever make myself. But i can provide infomation on ships of the era and a time-line of the war.

I think, the Dilgar crusier and the Dilgar fighter, as long with the EA Avenger and TigerFury are enough to make a DilgarWars campaign.

The fighters are enough, but the EA had several other ships about the time

Artemis Frigate + Escort Variant

Avenger Heavy Carrier

Explorer

Hermes Transport

Hyperion+Variants

Nova-Alpha

Olympus+Gunship variant

Oracle scout cruiser

Sagittarius Cruiser

Tethys Cutter

Tillman Prototype Battleship...For this id sub in the Most TBP EA looking big ship from a different mod

Not to mention that the dilgar need Destroyers as well. If they just had cruisers, then the Dilgar Invasion would not have been as big a crisis as it was. They need more than the Thorun fighter and Sekhmet cruiser to be a proper threat IMHO

The classes ive come across in official material are:
1) Meshakur Dreadnought - equal to the Primus - the most powerful class

2)Ochlavita Destroyer

3)Omelos Light Cruiser

4)Jashakar Scout Ship

5) Tikrit Heavy cruiser

6)Rohrit Assault Ship - sort like the white star - smaller than a cruiser....a sort of gunship...the Valkyrie

7)Targrath Strike Cruiser

8)Wahant Heavy Assault Ship - Between Cruiser and 6) in size

9)Mankhat Dreadnought

10)Kahtrik Assault Ship

11)Garasoch Heavy Carrier

One minor nitpick---Acording to my Research; the Aurora Mk1 Starfury used in E-M war mission is actually the Nova-Class starfury, in service since just before the dilgar invasion. The Aurora was an upgrade to the old Nova frame introduced after the end of the Earth-minbari war

I'm just wondering if there was interest...My Crusade mod takes 1st priority. When i get that done...Maybe i'll come back to this but by then someone will have done this

As moderator, I think you should create a separate thread listing all the ships you need for your various campaigns. I think this would really help organise modellers and get you the ships you need to continue your good work.  :yes:

Not sure if anyone here knows about this site but it has lots of info on B5 ships, weapons and history.

If you scroll down a little you'll see an article about EA involvement in the Dilgar War which may be of interest if you get round to making this mod. Actually I'm not sure whether it's based on 100% canon source material or not (I for one don't know that much about B5 to tell for certain).

I know that site...It bloody brilliant...Though a lot of it is non-canon...the design of the Tillman for example is by a fellow called Grand Inquisiter Dask

At the moment im working on combining the desctiption of the dilgar war from there with Description from the Earthforce Campaign book from the B5 RPG.

I'm not sure on the Canon status of the Mongoose publishing books.  But i figure as long as it doesnt contradict what is said/shown on-screen or stated in the canon novels and comics, then they are okay to use as an info source

I ask myself if  so many ships are really necessary. Nothing against the list. If engaged Modder are found which make all these ships, then do it.
But if I I consider now spontaneously to fred the Dilgarwar, I only would want more Dilgar-Craft. I think about some Ship Types. One Dreadnougt, One Carrier, One Scout (Destroyer and other Cruiser-types would be optional).  Many more, would be nice but not inevitably.
The EA has enough ships. Most can be downgraded by FRED. The only thing is the speed but you can simulate lower velociti by using cap-waypoint-speed.
Indeed some EA ships would be absent, but there it would be to me personally rather the engagement would flow rather into some new league ships.

Well, maybe there can be several "Era" packs.

Like a Terran Vasudan War Project ship pack, an FS1 ship pack, an FS

The Dilgar/Minbari war Era ship pack - containing ships of that era Atremis, Nova starfury, Orestes, Dilgar ships...no First ones, little in the way of Drakh etc

The "2258-2266" era - default as is the core VPs

Crusade era pack --- im working on this...but unless i can find someone to model the ships that arent reskins or TBL/model hacks, i will have to borrow ships from other FS mods...

The nice think is that the variants i found about can be easily made by changing the Weapons, max speed and hitpoints in Fred. I'm assuming that "Special Hitpoint" allows you to fiddle with the HP of a ship with out effecting the hull integrety - correct me if im wrong

       For most of the earth ships, you've already got them. You just have to change the weapons and/or make new ones. No big deal.
