Are there high-res versions of the Bastion and Galatea main halls available? If so, why aren't they included?
-
No. That's why.
-
We've never needed them, plus it would be very hard. something to do with the animations.
-
Ah :blah:
-
There is high resolution pictures but not animations...
-
Well, that's something at least... I just got FSPort working, there are nice effects everywhere, but the main hall still looks like it should be on a screen half the size of mine. Is it possible to get those pictures working somehow?
-
Impossible without real animations. You would have to re-model, re-texture, and re-animate every detail. So no, unless Volition released it.
Unless you mean just use the pictures without any motion. That would be cool, but I would keep to the old crappy animations.
-
Aye. Not impossible as such but still a pain in the arse to do. It's not on the Port teams's to-do list but if, for example, you want to take a shot at it, help yourself.
-
You should be more specific. There are "hi-res" versions of everything available; they're in sparky_hi_fs1.
-
Hi-res backgrounds with low-res anis then?
No, bad idea. It would look even worse, I guess. Just forget about it.
-
Someone else did that with the Galatea mainhall. It doesn't look absolutely horrible, but it ain't great either. I have it loaded in my FSPort directory, IIRC. Static backgrounds with the things in the right area would work. It's what they did for the mainhall of Inferno: Alliance.
-
Alternatively, you could get someone to do it frame-by frame from the high-res image using Photoshop or something. Very tedious though.
-
Yeah. They'd need the background that's behind the doors, as well as the closed image, and then have to move the doors incrementally enough that it would seem smooth. Not impossible. Not even necessarily difficult. Just, as you say Droid803, incredibly tedious.
