Title: Raider Wars question
Post by: Ceowulf on June 05, 2008, 02:42:59 pm
Nothing technical, I haven't played it but I was just curious if there was any connection to the old multiplayer game by the same name back in the 90's?
I was bored at work, and did my yearly search for old Raider Wars information, and this has come up a bunch.

Curious. What's this "old" Raider Wars, hmm?

Edit: This, at least, is Babylon 5 related.

The old Raider Wars was a multiplayer space combat game.  The basic story was it took place in an asteroid belt, 3 corporations vied for control of. You chose one of 3 sides, and took over the ships surrounding the belt.  Multiple ship types, with different roles etc.  The game is from the late 90's, Interactive Magic made it , then sold it to AOL where it vanished.  It was a pretty early multiplayer game, and  a damn lot of fun. Watching the trailer  it has some similarities to certain aspects of the ancient game of the same name :)

But no Babylon 5? That's alright. Sounds interesting, though.

But now that you're here, I would recommend The Babylon Project and/or FreeSpace_Open. Both can be acquired and installed with relative ease and hot piss, they're pretty. And entertaining, hmm.
